Sometimes in Drop D

How do u play "Sometimes" in Drop D tuning?

Convinced he plays it this way because it follows Dead Man in a live boot

Googled but can't find it ...

im pretty sure he plays it in regular EADGBe tuning to be honest.

If u want to play it in Drop D, just play the notes 2 steps up on that string. The rest of it will be the same as in tabs for regular tuning.

Check out Given To Wail for the tab
  • Thanks for the heads up on Given to Wail - have never seen that website - hopefully they'll have the right tab there . . . Was watching a youtube video where Ed plays sometimes further down on the fretboard. Thought it was in Drop D since it followed DeadMan ... The tab I've seen has the first few notes being played in frets 1 & 2 (ultimate-guitar.com) which sounds a lot different then the way I saw Ed play it .... anyway, thanks again

    Cheers!

No problem, ive heard the same thing on the solo shows! he just must be Very quick at changing guitars!

I think (off the top of my head) it opens on the D & G strings...(open on the D and 5th fret on G).
Then the low part is the bottom part of an F chord, pulling off to open on the E intermittently.

Mike & Stone's parts are pretty simple too, just some nice "colouring", nothing drastic.

Edit: Jesus, i just re-read this - im talking gobledeegoop! I assume you've figured it out from the tabs anyway!! lol!
  • LOL Thanks again, I figured it out from your note and the tabs ! Saw Ed solo twice (NJPAC, Newark, NJ '08 and Tower Theatre '09) , definitely agree he is quick at changing guitars .. either that or I must have looked down to see if I needed a refill !
  • I saw him play these two back to back recently and he tuned down to drop d in between the songs
