it would be great if the guys can put out a blu-ray disc for the upcoming tour(s). Pearl Jam in HD video and 7.1 sound..

Anyone have any ideas if they will be working on anything?

Thanks!

I wonder how much of their early stuff was filmed high definition? Obviously film can be captured in HD, but I wonder if video footage like Unplugged or TB2000 was captured with HD video cameras or just standard def. They used pretty cheap cameras for Touring Band 2000, so I'm thinking no HD on that tour.

It doesn't matter if the footage was captured in high definition or not. It is amazing what you can do with old footage these days.

Have you seen The Godfather trilogy on Blu-ray? It looks pretty good to me.

Actually matters was how it was filmed, but not hd video vs. film. Its Film vs. videotape! Most film has a higher resolution than HD. So any tv shows filmed before some point in the 70's can be adapted to HD (some scifi shows filmed the acting shots on film but effects were put onto video tape, requiring new effects shots).

anyways yah.... anything shot on video tape is f'd.. it can not, and never will be on bluray. I'm pretty sure unplugged was put onto videotape. Videotape was the most used format for filming television until the turn of the century when they start to use HD cameras.

so not everything can me made HD. For the most part it has to be a movie (all movies are shot on film.. well most of them), old tv or new tv shows.
