why did aussie buyers have to buy tickets in american dollars resulting in having to pay more (by about 20 dollars) for the same ticket sold here (oz) for 123 bucks?
all in all im going to two concerts and had to dish out 290 bucks for a pair.... what if the exchange rate was 50c ... would we have to pay 680 dollars for a pair of tickets????????????????

i would understand of coarse if i was attending an american show, bought an american ticket with my oz credit card ... buy why was i charged the exchange rate when every other oz ticket buyer wasnt???????

please let me know.....

best guess, the ten club are in america and we bought our tickets from them, hence we paid in american dollars.

that's stupid... again i ask the queastion ... im going to the same show as every other buyer yet no one was charged the exchange??? i mean if you throw an answer like that around you going to make me look stupid and i guess in some ways it does sound obvious ... BUT when you really think about it there was no reason at all to charge us us dolars

because they are actually charging us american dollars for a ticket already set at the price of the exchange accounted for ... if they are charging usa dollars the tickets per pair should have been around 102 bucks ... not the same as the price set already for sale here

eh, they don't charge booking fees or the charge for the ticket.. even a print out ticket costs $5 from ticketek.

for me it worked out to be less than $15 more a ticket... but if i'd waited for the general public sale i'd have been in the backspacer field

The amount 10C sells them for in USD is BASED on the current exchange rates, that's why it's different prices in different countries.

Unless they have totally screwed up (which is unlikely) 10C are not more expensive than form other outlets when you factor in transaction, postage fees etc.

They always are when you buy them in USD in Australia and New Zealand. I've never bought for other international shows, always assumed it was the same for them? So, the shows in Europe, 10C tickets cost the same as public tickets (once exchange rate was taken into account?

I don't blame the 10C. I find it hard to believe they're trying to make an extra $10 a ticket off Oz/NZ fans, but I have no explanation for why it is like that. The promoter, maybe?

Because they have to pay their expenses in USD?

Leave out the maybe and you've got it.

    Aussie promoters are scum.

All and all "Ten Club" is a US company and not some corporate giant like Apple. I wouldn't expect them to accept anything but american dollars. Also my guess is that 10C probably doesn't have the tools necessary to accept non US currency. I'm sure its possible but I imagine that the foriegn currency conversion fees/transaction fees that 10c would have to pay to Mastercard or Visa are probably really high.

Pretty sure they took AUD$ in 2003, but things have moved on since then and everything's internet based so I guess USD$ is easier.

I'm no genius here, but wouldn't you expect to pay a little more to fly the band over, put them up, etc? Don't forget the cost of flying goods over, and all the such....

I know it sucks to pay a little more, but there has to be a cost for Americans to fly over, and not to mention simply doing business between the two countries (country and continent if you prefer).

Just a shot in the dark, but if someone can disprove my statement, please so, but with courtesy. I don't want to be the smart ass, but it has to be a part of the ticket cost.

all due respect i think some of you are miising the point ... i get cost .... the point is the aus folk who didnt buy a ticket through 10 club paid a certain amount... the aus folk who bought through ten club were charged the same BUT in us dollars ... meaning its cost only members more.

anyway ... i got mine thats that :)
    peace

Not sure that you get the issue the original guy had. It's that 10C tickets cost more than local tickets for the same show. If you did understand that, I'm not sure what your point is? You think 10C members should pay extra for having the band come? Isn't that stuff all included in the local ticket prices too?
