i'm sure not many agree with me but i'm listening to a live Led Zeppelin record now and Moby Dick has been playing and i'm just so bored by it. i dig the beginning and end parts when the whole band is playing but as for the extended drum solo i could pretty much care less for 95% of it

Drum solos suck, but that one is hands down the best I've heard from a major rock drummer.

It depends on what kind of mood I'm in, but usually I love the drum solo in Moby Dick. Of course on the album version it's only a couple minutes long. But on "How the West was Won" it's about 10-15 i think. It's really even better if you watch it, so you can see just how amazing Bonham was.

put it this way: It's the best drum solo ever no matter if you like them or not.

It's an amazing solo, but drum solos typically don't translate well to recordings, especially if it's only drums that are playing.

The riff is just brilliant, and well i think people either love drum solos or hate em. For me drums are a very important part of music.

I don't even like it on LZII. Everything else on it is gold, though.

I love Bonham as much as the next guy but I totally agree. I always skip this on live albums, bootlegs or dvds.

I love the drum solo, but the best part of the song is definitely the intro with Jimmy's riff.

If you want to see Bonham at his finest, check out the Knebworth segment on the Zeppelin DVD. Hard to argue against that one. The rest of the band except maybe Jones wasn't at their finest at that point but Bonham was posessed!

yeah, i was listening to Three Days After (Plant said Bonham's birthday was 3 days ago or something like that), Moby Dick was the entire 2nd side. i liked parts of the solo but it just seemed far too long. i guess if i was seeing it it might be a different story....

i know, agree and like drums. like i have a Tool boot from 2002 and Danny Carey's drumming is just fucking brilliant on it, many times it stands out more than Adam Jones or Justin Chancellor's parts but when 99% of an entire album side is a drum solo it can become quite tedious!
