Frying cookies

What would happen if you bake chocolate chip cookies, then dip them in butter, and dredge them in flour/cinnamon/cocoa powder/cardamon and fry them? Do you think it would work? I just thought this up, and wondered if any cooks out there would think this would work. I'm more of a baker, but I've been watching the food channel more over the past year, and there is a lot of dredge/frying going on.

On the flip side, how would you grill a chocolate chip cookie? I'm worried about the chocolate oozing out, but maybe the sugars would carmelize enough to create a coating?

Yes- make a batter like mrvedderson said, and then fry it. That is the best way

and if you grilled a chocolate chip cookie- the chocolate will melt, but the sugar content in the cookie won't really caramelize over. It will probably be crispy- and smoky- and a hot cookie.

What do you want to do with the cookie on the grill?

It's just another way to do something with food. Bobbly Flay inspires me :D

well then, I would take the raw cookie dough, flatten it out really thin, freeze it hard- then get one of those grill plates and grill it like that- otherwise the dough would fall through the grate. Set the grill really high- so that it will be a crispy on the outside and a bit gooie on the inside.

That sounds good! Do you think coating a cookie in donut batter and then just frying it in a little butter/canola oil in a frying pan would do? I remember deep frying growing up, and I'm concerned about how many times I can use the oil again, when is it safe . . . where can it be thrown away after it's use. It's been so long since I deep fried anything. After a couple uses, do you just throw the oil down the drain?

same concept, you would want to either fry all surface at once or flip it, doing it at once will make it look better, but flipping it will save oil, and as long as you filter your oil, you can use it a few times.

Have you never had a deep fried Oreo? Amazing. Same with a twinkie and snickers.

    i love chocolate chip cookies.
    i love zepolles.
i do not want the two to merge.
i personally think some things are best left as is, enjoy and savor as they are meant to be. ;)
    :P
    neither are particularly healthy....but deep-frying a cookie?......ouch!
    8-)
