Lack of Backspacer Live

It looks like most shows they are only playing the 2 songs (Fixer and Got Some). Why are they afraid to play more of the new stuff before the album comes out? I would think they would like to try something new and get some more excitement going for the new album. Does anyone think we'll get more than these 2 once they hit North America this week?
I love the old stuff, but it would be nice to hear some more new stuff.

They'd rather everyone listen to 10-30 second snipets from Verizon or Amazon?
I think that's exactly the reason. I think one of the guy mentioned something like that in an interview.
I thought this was a tour to "support the release of Backspacer".

Backspacer will be in stores Sept. 20th. The N.A. tour to "support the release of Backspacer" begins Sept. 21st in Seattle.
These Euro and N.A. shows that are before that tour are different, imo. Personally, I love that they aren't overloading these sets with the new songs.
I'm not whining. Just eager to hear some and wondering why they wouldn't play more.
and rightfully so...im not going to start listening to the album until it arrives at my doorstep

I dunno if that's wrong, but I think it was fair to assume that the shows would coincide with the album, and they do.
Was there a mention that they were warmup shows?
The point is this: Pearl Jam sells records regardless of leaks. In fact, they continue to do well because of loyal ass fans that actually buy -- meaning pay cash -- for their albums, vinyl, socks...it doesn't matter.
That to me means they should play a few more if they want to. It's obvious they are not on purpose though for all the reasons you guys mention. I just think that's flawed thinking. If they came out with 5 collectors editions of the new record, fans would buy all 5. after they've downloaded all the audience recordings. They'd then buy the official bootlegs despite having the audience recordings already. and so on and so on.

Right on........Kinda makes them seem like outta touch fogeys. It's embarrassing in the way all the hype for S/T was.
For die-hard PJ fans like us, people who post on this board, I would agree. I've pre-ordered the album from the 10c and will buy it from Target as well.
However, I know a lot of casual fans that would have no issued dowloading shows, whether they be audience recordings or offical boots and put the album together that way. Then, after the album releases, they'd find it online and download it for free. It's just the way people are.
I have no doubt that starting in Seattle, you'll have 6-7 Backspacer songs in the set, if not more.
That's a nice point, but it's moot.
