Ahhh yes...when they actually toured.
Not sure what to think about the rumors. I always get hopeful then disappointed. This will make it even worse or all worth it.
Yeah that was a decade ago, it was a huge stretch for me to even try to use that as a valid comparison, but my main point was you can't try to predict a tour based on rumors of just Dallas and NO because they don't seem to follow any certain pattern or consistent itinerary.
I don't allow myself to get too hopeful. I'd rather just not expect much and then hopefully have a nice surprise if it actually comes true.0 -

^^This^^ is exactly what my husband told me. I'm an optimist, so I get disappointed a lot.2003 Dallas

I have a feeling you're probably right... if they play dallas at all.
I have no idea why the band would play dallas of all places... if they drive by Houston without a show after all the postcards I've sent, I'm going to be a very unhappy individual...
Maybe that's why they are skipping Houston :P
Houston's huge. I have to believe that if they are playing Dallas they would also play there, but then I also wouldn't have believed they'd go over 10 years without playing there. Really hoping Houston gets a show! I'll be there if they do..it would be great to finally meet you.2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0 -
Honestly, I think the postcards help.
If we all sent them, they couldn't forget that people actually live down here!!&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 -
themessenger wrote:I'm not going to get my hopes up yet for Dallas being rumored, but it does seem strange that the rumors are that Dallas kicks it off and N.O. ends it with 1-2 months in between sometime in September and Voodoo on Nov 1-2. Logistically that doesn't make a lot of sense at all, but then again, when does their touring schedule make sense?
The 2009 swing from LA to Austin back to LA.
The 2003, they played essentially 2 tour legs w/ N.O., OKC, Houston, SA, Florida, Atlanta, SC, & NC in early April, and then Dallas, Little Rock, Phx, and KC in early June.
Whatever, I'll take what I can get at this point.
That 2009 example shows what they would do to play a festival..so if they are playing voodoo in November then the previous and following shows may not even be anywhere near Louisiana.2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0 -

Such optimism.. I hate that I'm a realistic idealist. Ed did seem apologetic at some of the shows here..0 -

Let's be quite honest - speaking strictly Dallas and Houston, you are talking about 14 million people - officially. Add in the illegals, and you're probably talking closer to 17 million people. The cities are less than a 4 hour drive apart and constitute a market as big as new york city.
it's almost mind numbing to think that any band could ignore that much of a market segment.
add in San Antonio, which now also approaching 7 million people - officially - and you're talking about 21 million people all within a 300 mile radius that you've completely ignored for a decade...
it almost just seems ignorant.justam wrote:Honestly, I think the postcards help.

I saw a whole pile of Tampa ones in the recent deep mag - I assume that was you?Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.0 -

THIS. A thousand times, this. I agree, and I hope that this tour changes that pattern. It looks like all the postcards, emails, letters and posts related to playing the South have helped our cause. Coupled with Ed's solo dates - we have ourselves real probability this time. Not to mention that there are many fans here who have disposable income enough to see 3+ shows in the South. Makes a big difference in booking cities.2003 Dallas

Unlike the last Dallas show, I can legally drink there now!
The 2003 tour in Houston, they stopped serving alcohol after ten pm. FYI :(0 -

just got my deep magazine in the mail and flipped to the mail section.... i can pick out at least 4 of my postcards in the pile, including the toyota center postcard smack in the middle of the page...
makes me feel like they're listening, and maybe, just maybe we'll get a show here in houston the fall...
also reminds me that i ran out of postcards 2 weeks ago (going on 3 now) and that i really need to get out for some more!
I also see a bunch of postcards from Tampa in the pile.... I assume that's you JUSTAM??

Can you believe that I cannot find postcards in Louisville???? Well, I did find some but they were singles....and cost $3 apiece. Maybe I'll try buying online. Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

the only place I've been able to find them as of late is in the mall... and I hate going to the mall...
had to make a special trip there at lunch trying to avoid all the crazies.... however I realized that wasn't the best idea when I got inside the mall and realized all the people that shop there on the weekdays are housewives who pedal around in no real hurry spending their husbands money.... :fp:
I've been buying mine at 3 for a $1 around here, seems to be the going price.Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.0 -

I've noticed that there are several places that typically carry postcards->
CVS, Walgreens, etc
Also, shops that are meant for tourists by the waterfront
and
museums, aquariums, surf shops, national parks
Do you have any places like that in Louisville?
Try them!&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 -
Go get one of those personalized Louisville Sluggers made and send it to them! This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0
