Question for Philly people

My wife and I are coming out for the last 2 shows in October. We are both really into haunted places/paranormal things and we were thinking about going to Eastern State Pen. Is it worth it to go and look around or take a tour? Is it really as creepy as people say it is? I've seen it on TV and it looks pretty fucked up.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

If your into haunted houses, Eastern State is alot of fun, and scary. There's a good resturant nearby called The London Grill.

it's definitely worth it. there are a ton of great bars/restaurants in the area, too. allow yourself a lot of time because eastern state is pretty crazy that time of year. the prison tour is even better than the haunted house...but i think they only do the haunted house tours that time of year if i remember correctly.

All I know is that place is PACKED around Halloween. Good luck. Fairmount's a good area.

I enjoyed the historical tour 100x more than the haunted house production that they put on around halloween. It is definitely worth a visit, but unfortunately, I think nfanel is right, they only have the haunted house production that time of year.

There are still daytime tours when Terror Behind the Walls is going in Oct. The TBW starts usually at 7 late in October while the Day tours start at 10AM and end at 5PM with the last entry at 4PM. It is a very cool experience especially the daytime tours. I didn't find TBW that scary but it had its moments.

Also, local restuarants offer dinner and a TBW tour packages where you get a 3 or 4 course dinner as well as tickets to TBW. The packages are usually pretty good and the restaurants in the area are well worth a stop. There's a great bar down the street from Eastern State called Bishop's Collar, I suggest you check it out.

Thanks for all the imput. I was going to take a daytime tour. I've always found haunted houses to be kind of cheesy and not scary at all. I'd rather have a real freak out moment than have some kid in a costume come up and try to scare me.

As for Camden, I want to see ghosts....not become one.
