....checks previous setlists and plays a show accordingly?

For example, when returning to Toronto, will they check the setlist(s) from '06 and maybe '03 and try to avoid similar sets this time around?

Hope so. Would be nice to hear a few "different" songs . . . .

I remember Ed talking about Crazy Mary at Toronto 2006. He said - last time we were here we played this one and it was special. Let's see if we can do it again.......

They hadn't played Crazy Mary in Toronto since 2000.....(2005, 2003 it was not played).

That doesn't really answer your question - but I doubt they would look at it very closely.

How about philly 2005, during crazy mary the sound system fuck up and scares eddie so much, he wanted to sing different song to play but stone wants to continue, and eddie claimed would never play that song again.
  • I somehow doubt they they check older shows when planning a set lit. I just get the feeling that Ed scribbles down the set lets a couple hours before for show on what he is feeling for that night.

I agree with you. I reckon that's what Ed does. Wonder how much of the setlist is chosen by Ed alone and how much input in choosing a setlist comes from the others as well!

In Immagine in Cornice they talk about this. Ed usually does it according to how he feels/what he thinks the crowd is gonna be like, and the others suggest additions/corrections etc.
They never really mention what they played last tour in the same city.
Using the word "methinks" in your message board posts doesn't make you look smart.

Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater looks at the setlist from previous shows............oh right. Pearl Jam. One of the coolest things is how Ed goes through and picks according to mood and the space their in.
