trying to figure the best way to get back after the shows. I'm staying at the Hard Rock Hotel on N. Michigan Ave

other threads indicate NOT to walk to the El since that is not that great a neighborhood. But won't there be like 5,000 walking to the El?

Also, how hard to hail a cab outside the UC right after the show? Ill be with my underage sons so I won't be hanging out at any neighborhood bars after the shows

Another option is taking the #20 bus (I've done my homework) down Madison. Is this feasable or is it too crowded?

any help or thoughts would be appreciated
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
ride"!

Like you said....there will be a few hundred people walking to the el.....you will be safe...

Hailing a cab might be a little rough....but it can be done.....

You'll be fine with the el or bus. You're correct that there will be a lot of people around. The area is really changing and it's not as bad as people say.

Cabs will be plentiful but they ALWAYS pick up the fares with the most people first. Especially the mini vans. The two of you would probably have to wait around for a long time.

I would just take the Madison street bus to Michigan Ave and walk from there.....

Cabs will be hard to get after the show

I remember hearing story about Ozzie Guillen and some White Sox Players went to a bulls game or something, they could not get a cab after the game so the took the bus downtown where they could more easily catch a cab. They surprised a bunch of unsuspecting, probably drunk fans on the bus.
