aloft is near the airport, in the same location as the Sheraton Suites (which is pretty nice). You are 5 miles from the Wachovia and would not cost a fortune if you took a cab to the show. Not much around the hotel. I got the airport Embassy Suites for 109/night for Fri and Sat.
PM if you need any more help.

If you just need a place to crash, take the cheapest option. If you want to explore the city, stay downtown. Traffic sucks regardless whether you stay by the airport or downtown. Could take equally as long from both downtown or the airport. Still shouldn't be much more than 15-20 min. Some advantages of staying in the city are:
1. Bars and restaurants for pre and post show and lots of historical stuff to see. Everyone needs to see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell once in their lifetime. There's nothing by the airport except for the hotels, car dealerships, and industrial plants.
2. Subway. Kinda dirty, usually smells like most major cities do, but definitely the way to go if you don't need to have your car with you. Almost a must with all of the other events going on over that week. www.septa.org
3. Smells better and is quieter than by the airport. Two pretty important things to recharge for the next concert.
Lived in the area for all my 38 years. Hope that helps. Enjoy the shows and the city.
the big factor to consider is if you'll have a car with you. If you plan on driving, then go for the cheapest (aloft is new and looks nice). you can drive into the city to sightsee or take a cab if you plan on doing some partying. call the hotel and ask them if there is public transportation near the hotel that will take you to the Spectrum. you would need to take the Broad Street subway line I think.
good luck and enjoy, its gonna be one wild week
