Scalpers

After not having much luck getting my tickets from the 10c I didn't worry. I knew I could just go to the Wachovia Center here in Philly. Sat out there all night only to be surrounded by scalpers. Most of us Pj fans just wanted a couple of tickets but these rude people made it a nightmare not just for us but for the staff also. So what happened they had to lottery the line. None of these people even know who PJ are. I did get my tickets but something should be done about what they do.
I surfaced and all around me was enlightened

Yeah. That sucks. I've heard stories where a scalper will employ crackheads and other undesirables to wait in line and generally stink up the good vibes.
They can get nasty.
Glad you got your tickets. Curiously how good/bad were they?
Yeah, people on crack, and crack is whack.

without drug addicts, there would be no drug dealers.

thank you and good night.
Personally, I like scalpers. They provide a service. Just a couple weeks ago I went to the Coldplay show at the Gorge (Washington) without a ticket. A scalper sold me a single seat in the 11th row for $80. I had a better seat than 95 percent of the people at the show, and I paid less than face value for it.
Look at my view of the stage:

I'm flying to Chicago from Portland for both shows. I have Ten Club tickets to the second show, and none to the first. I've written two 10C member here who waved their extra ticket around and asked fans to beg for it. I didn't get either.
I plan to buy my ticket to Chicago night 1 from a scalper. I have a hunch I'll have a better view than my Ten Club seats the next night. I've been a member since 1993 but have horrible seniority because of a couple gaps in my membership.
I don't know how much it will cost me, but I'm not afraid to pay above face value for an incredible view of the greatest band in the world.

You dont have to scalp, ck the box office day of and or fans (key word here) selling extras for face at the venue
yes its a free mkt but some of don't feel its right to gouge other fans
Good luck!

i do not buy the open market bullshit! they are selling tickets to make money for themselves, not for the band!
it is also illegal in a lot of cases to resell the ticket above face value, but nothing is done about it!!!
The only way to stop the scummy fuckers is not to buy from them! buying only encourages them to do it more

I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!
It is legal to resell tickets, without a cap, in NY, PA, and I believe NJ.
Plus I would be willing to bet the members of PJ at some point in there youth purchased Scalped tickets.
they are the same people outside the venues all the time, always with tickets, and not allowing the real fans to purchase them and face value.
I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!
My very first Pearl Jam show in 1995, we bought scalped tickets from a Ten Club member.
The face value was around $24.00, and we paid forty or fifty for them.
Has the fuckers name printed on the ticket. But at the time I had no idea about the fan club, didn't join until 1998.
I would guess there is very little chance that guy is still in the club, but I can't say for sure. Just didn't strike me as a big time fan when I met him to pick up the tickets?
Just because they had his name on the ticket doesn't mean he was in the 10 club.
Non-fan club tickets also had people's names printed on them back in those anti-ticketmaster days.
I didn't start this thread, but I'm damn well allowed to speak on it, especially when ON TOPIC. Sorry I'm not pro-scalping, and I don't agree with you that the guy selling his ticket for $1,700 was in the right.

That's a little misleading isn't it?
That ticket sold for $120 and some posters - which is pretty cheap considering it was FRONT ROW.
It wasn't a fan club ticket so he broke no rules. He made the effort to look for the ticket and was rewarded with a primo seat. He couldn't use it so he sold it. That's his right and there's nothing wrong with it.
No different than someone selling a poster they bought last year for $35 and getting $300 on eBay for it this week.
