As long as they don't show up and play the bongos for two hours straight, I'm pretty much gonna be excited with whatever they choose to put on the setlist. Just because they play Why Go, Dissident, Brother on whatever else they might wanna bust out at other shows, still doesn't mean I don't wanna hear those songs when I can actually attend a show :P
Well said.
Agreed. But I think the reason people want variety on the setlists because they're going to multiple shows on the tour, and want to be sure that the band won't be playing the same show each night.
That's why I'm excited for variety- which has happened tonight in the form of Last Exit and Gone
I can see this being true, but what % of the crowd is going to go to multiple shows? 1%? I can see the most being 5%, and I think that's being overly generous. I think Eddie recognizes that 97% of the crowd probably hasn't seen them many times, and I want to hear the songs they love, and a few 'rarities' thrown in for good measure. I think we get a little tunnel vision (myself included) on this board in regards to the set lists.
I am one who happens to think "Self Titled/Avocado" is one of their best albums. Life wasted, Marker in the Sand, Gone, Army Reserve, WWS, Parachutes, Big Wave, Come Back, Comatose, Inside Job....
I totally agree! Although Parachutes is probably my least favorite song.
I may be one of the few people who absolutely loves Parachutes. Just gives me a good, warm feeling.

darkness leaves the dawn
You're right, and it is good to get it out of the way. I guess I hate it as an opener because of those songs that are only openers you only get one of them, so to have it be Elderly Woman automatically eliminates a bunch of songs from being played.
