One interesting place to eat in Philly is called Reading Terminal Market. Its not too far from the Radisson - there's lots of small restaurants, and also inside are vegetable and fish markets. I've been there twice and plan to go again. Here's a link if interested: http://www.readingterminalmarket.org/
Thanks Jane for the link, that looks great and reasonable.

I'll be there for 28th, 30th and 31st shows. Wasn't able to score the 27th night at the original $75 rate. Isn't worth $119, so I'll stay somewhere else. It would be cool if we had some shuttle or carpool. Though, I'm a poster fiend, so I have to be there before doors. That's my crazy way.

Ok, so how do I handle THIS situation....
I just showed my husband this list and he is totally freaked out I think. I don't think he wants to play nice and meet people. He is kind of overwhelmed by the fan culture I think, which makes me sad because even though I am still new-ish, I thought it was a great chance to meet so many people. Will I have to sneak out and meet you guys by the ice machine at 3am?

Haha. No worries. You can make what you like of it. Tell him its just a place to stay. Once he's relaxed, everything will be cool.

I agree - everyone at the hotel is there to see PJ. Meeting other cool jammers is simply a bonus. The fans I've met in the past have all been solid, so my expectations are the same here

I am taking my 13 yr old son to this event and we are staying here. I have been a member here on and off for the last 18 years and must say that 99.9% of the people you will meet will be great. We are diverse in age and work and interests, yet we all come together in peace to enjoy a band that has the greatest fans on earth. People are very friendly and I have made many wonderful friends over the years. My son went to his first shows last year and cannot wait to meet many of the folks he met last year. These will be his 4&5 shows already. There is a little something for everyone. It is amazing to see the diversity of the group yet the commonality we all share - there is nothing like hearing thousands of people in unison singing black or betterman and totally feeding off the energy of the band and vice versa. Staying at the hotel will be parents with kids, and older jammers who's partying days are behind them and younger folks just hitting their stride. We all look out for one another and try to help whenever possible. The preparties are excellent places to meet new friends, as well as in the will call lines and merchandise lines. Your neighbors are great and I usually introduce myself to everyone around before the show as we jam our cares away for 2-3 hours. Please be sure to stop and say hello to us as we will helping at at the preparties on the 30th and 31st, if not let us know your ice machine location and we will stop by to say hello, . I think he will enjoy it more than he thinks and we aren't as crazy as we sound...well that's not completely true but it is relative. Just breathe and enjoy! I look forward to meeting you.

Thanks a lot for the assurances that you aren't crazies....good material to help persuade him to our side. The funny thing is that HE is the one who got me into the band and now I am the crazed fan. Go figure. I think he is just scared of seeing so many ALL AT ONCE! Like you are a bunch of PJ locusts.
He'll be fine. If not, I'll just get him drunk and THEN he'll be fine. Wheee.

Tell him he's not alone - my husband was a little shell shocked when I told him about all this too - maybe they can hang together :ugeek: . He told me we couldnt go to any of this stuff cause "they're strangers" (as if we're both 5 years old ). I told him "they're" not strangers - WE are PJ fans therefore we are all brothers & sisters! :P He's been to at least 3 shows but none where he's been totally immersed but I think they'll be fine.

Baby steps. They'll get there.
Ha. yeah, we'll stick them together and they can stand around and talk about non-fanatical things...hmm...
My husband also used the "strangers" excuse too! Does that mean I have to go around the hotel saying STRANGER DANGER all weekend?

Maybe we could make them STRANGER DANGER T-shirts!!! LMFAO
I'll be right across the street (well close enough) at the Latham. I'll be working Wed-Fri so I won't have a lot of time for the preparty festivities but I'll be at the Wed. night show and staying for the weekend... I'm sure I'll meet up with some of you. I'm definitely hitting up the pre-party on the 31st, and after show I may have to go to the Radisson bar.

Count me in for the 30th and 31st. Any info on a shuttle would be greatly appreciated
The subway is less than a 5 min walk from the Radisson and it takes you right into the venue (10 min ride)....so if there is no shuttle that's the way to go.
