Why am I a member of the tenclub? Not just to support one of the greatest bands on the world butost defenitly also to get the best possible tickets to their shows when they finally comeback to australia! Now that they've announced the shows and I've bought my ten club tickets we get the confirmation that there will not b a special ten club section and we only get early entry into the venue. .! Not only do we pay more for our tickets (what's up with that anyhow...), we will be in the same GA area as everybody else, fighting for our spot!!!!

Can anybody clarify that this is what will happen? Maybe anybody has experience with his.... I know that duri g last years euro tour they had a special section u can enter and leave with special wristbands .... Might have to consider cAncelling my membership if we will be let down by the band!

Why because of the arena bit? Im actually looking forward to a few outdoor gigs...different atmosphere and the weather should be pretty warm at that time of year.

Great to see a positive post. I'm looking forward to the outdoor arena bit too, my first PJ shows out of doors! We are definitely getting wrist bands too, I guess they'll just allow us to get in the gate earlier than those without. My dream of going interstate is coming true and there's no way my spirits will be dampened just because there'll be gp in amongst the Ten Clubbers. So looking forward to the whole deal. :)

Have Pearl Jam ever had a specific Ten Club section in the GA area? I thought it was always just early entry, so thats what I was expecting when I bought my tickets.

As DonJon said - better than them not coming at all!

  • Today I received my ten club ticket confirmation email and I must say that I am very disappointed. Firstly there is no 10c members only area and the only so called benefit is early entry. Early entry is great if you're not plagued by normal human needs, and can avoid the need to drink or use the toilet for the 2-3hrs during the opening acts and then for a further 2hrs when pearl jam are on. If you lack these special abilities, then you will lose your spot to non-10c members at some point during the gig. Also, the email states that early entry information will be available when you collect your tickets???? So what time do I get there???????

So to date I have paid my 10c membership every year and then bought my tickets at a higher cost than the general public, plus paid a conversion fee for the US dollar. WHY??????? My friends who are not members and don't love pearl jam like we all do, will be standing next to me at a much cheaper price.

This is a very unusual 10c move and I think we are owed answers.

  • "Might have to consider cAncelling my membership if we will be let down by the band!" Good point Kv248896

Although this seems like a very drastic move, I guess it does ask some relevant questions. At present what is the benefit of being an international 10c member???? We pay our annual fee because we love the band, with the trade off being that we receive the same love back when they tour. Right now there is no benefit, and with the removal of seniority, why not just sign up when tours are announced or why sign up at all????

San Fran 06 were GA, we were let in 15 mins early, tix were handed out at noon, people were in before noon, it was really polite, those at the front stayed at the front, it was when doors opened that you either moved up or down the line, one side of the line moved quicker all three nights so, the you hade to do security and ticket taker, we got in, we sat on the floor waited for the opening act while everyone went to the bathroom, merch, do not think you could bring drinks on the floor but could be wrong, it was all very orderly, after ed's pre sets and Sonic Youth everyone sat down And I went from the front row to the bathroom and straight back to my spot no hassles. The shows will be great even if you arrive as the doors open you will still get a good spot.

I just hope the Aussies are as polite and considerate

was a great 4 days sure the extremely long amounts of time were frustrating, but met a lot of really good people and had a lot of fun in line with them :D

Go a head and abuse me, I am just great full that they are coming at all. I know its not the same but what are you going to do not go??

I'm pretty pissed that I have to pay 50 dollars more for two tickets than if I'd paid in Australian dollars, and also when the information provided did not state that the Ozzie tics were in Australian, when the others were US. It will be good though to be able to grab the bar before other people, and to see Ben and Liam, and to MOSH for the first time in three concerts. The first time I saw PJ, (four tours ago in Brizzie) I grabbed the bar and didn't let go and had a blast. The last time I saw them I had front row at Boondall in their last tour, but it wasn't the same. It's great to have a mosh pit! And it's going to be BIG! Boondal holds about 15000 people, while QSAC is almost 60000! That is gonna be way cool! The only other people (according to wiki) that have played there was U2 in their last tour. So this and Backspacer coming out soon will be SOOOO Awesome. IMHO, 10C will redeem themselves if they can ship those babies ASAP in order to be in our mailboxes when they're on the shelves - last time I waited a few weeks to be able to see the art work etc, and smell the avocado 8-)

Anyhow, I'm slowly getting over the extra 50 bucks and just felt it must've been a mistake to charge us US when all the other tics were in AUS. I paid almost 300 bucks for two tics, when it would've been around 250 in AUS.

    Cheers,
    Dean.

Thanks for all the replies! Not sure what the deal will be. I have sent an email to 10c and got a rather aggressive one in return. I asked them whether there will be any changes to the 10c section like they did in Europe last year (am kinda sure they had a 10c section and then a GA one... as I was there myself... ) and they told me to check my details as they didn't have it at all during that tour... All very strange. Well lets hope the ppl attending will be as polite as they were in San Fran, I guess. But might still cancel my membership as I can't see what the benefit of the membership is at this stage.. Add it all up and I could have bought myself a cool tour shirt and still be on the front gate...

i cant wait for this , it will be my first ever GA pearl jam concert and I look forward to moshing to some spin the black circle or evolution. It should be fairly ordely at most their could be the occasion foot stood on, or elbow in the ribs. Only thing I hate is crowd surfers! I went to raised fist when the played here in 06 and that was fairly tame considering the type of music that they play. if we all look out for each other it looks to be an awesome day.

haha!! the GA discussion! just be happy you get early entry before everybody else, and make sure you grap yourself some huge cups for your needs!

all this said, in 2007 I went to the Nijmegen show. great venue, but we were late because of a car accident (my freind still has whiplash problems ..!). we couldn't use the "early entry" part of course, but when we arrived, the front part was for those with a black strap, which we received when we collected the tickets we bought thru the Club. we got in and although we were not at center stage, we still were only meters away from the stage and Eddie visited our site very regularly!

tonight I went to the Rotterdam gig. extremely awesome, (can't wait to see them again!) and although I wasn't one of the lucky ones with early entry (which should have been the only benefit of TenClub ticket), there WAS a front part, just like in Nijmegen! this time with a different color strap.....so, although it said GA, there was a seperate part for those with a strap in both shows!

the thing is, I think, that the TenClub can't guarantee a seperate part! there probably will be, bacause of the Roskilde happenings! since then, every show I have been (not only PJ, also Metallica (twice), Live, Lenny Kravitz) has a seperate front part to prevent another Roskilde!

so although there is no seperate Ten Club area, there mostly is a separate front part which you should be able to get in to when you get 15 minutes early entry!

so just be happy you are so lucky to still be able to go, since I have already had my show! I'll keep dreaming about it for another 2 years after which I will buy my tickets through the Ten Club!!

Still don't understand people complaining about the 10C. Pearl Jam are one of the most sought after live bands in the world, and they virtually guarantee all members tickets to their local show! THAT IS AMAZING!!!! The general sale rush (and trust me on this one) is a total nightmare and a lottery, and 10C avoids all that.

What's more, they do their best to provide early entry for 10C ticket holders (e.g. even though the o2 show initially said there would be none, there now is a half hour EE slot.)

AND, even though they appear more, they have NO third party ticket seller fee tacked on to them, nor do they have any postage costs. Buy your tickets through ticketmaster or SEE, and you will CERTAINLY pay at least as much over all! Also, they sell in USD, which is confusing with varying exchange rates around the world, but overall tends to balance based on the exchange rate in each particular country.

It's the best band members club in terms of tickets I've come across, honestly, there's no pleasing some people!
  • I posted this in a different thread the other day and i think it is appropriate to add to this discussion:

I cant see what all the fuss is about here. 10c tickets will get you early entry to the Fixer GA (i know not all cities have the same, but most do) which is considerably smaller than the rest of the GA area. If you can manage to stay up the front for the entire time than thats a bonus.

From previous experience in seeing shows set up like this at Etihad stadium, at worst you will be 35-40m from the stage at the very back of the Fixer GA area. It is considerably better off that the gold seating which is surrounding the ground and MUCH further from the stage. The Fixer GA areas will not be very big.

I for one will use the early entry to get to the bar before the crowd arrives and get myself a decent spot, which i may or may not lose when i go back to the bar or to the toilet. Im not particularly worried about where i end up as long as im in this section.

As 10c members we should be thankful that we get guaranteed tickets in the best available section. We have been spoilt in the past with what we have been given. So to all those that are threatening not to renew their 10c membership because we dont get a special section all for ourselves i have 2 things to say. Firstly, get over it. Its not as bad as you think. And secondly, can you tell me any other band that gives you the return on your fan club membership that we get? I dont know of any other bands that give us special xmas releases and tickets like we have in the past. If you want to give up your membership because of this, go right ahead, it simply means a better seat for me next time.

I would also like to add that the 10c do have operating costs that they need to cover. if you really do care about the band enough to warrant being a member of the fan club then paying slightly more for the benefits you receive shouldn't really be an issue. I would also like to remind the original poster that we ARE getting the best available tickets. Unfortunately this time around we need to share that area with others, but it reall is a non-issue. you might want to concentrate on enjoying the opportunity to see you favourite band than worrying about who you are standing next to.

could not have said it better myself, the extra money for peace of mind for getting my ticket before the rush was worth, as a new member i am disapointed at my self for not becoming a member when I first became a massive fan. As for the people complaining is its GA and we were told that the ticket was only for early entry. Is your complaint out of being so spoilt with reserved sections before, granted they we shows that had no GA. Or are you just complain coz you can!

    A) We're very lucky to have GA shows, it's the best way to experience any concert.

    and...

    B) They've never had a 10C only GA section that I'm aware of - and it likely won't ever happen. Too hard for venue, security, etc. Unfair to other ticket holders too.

Nobody ever promised you a separate section, any expectation of this was entirely encased within your head. You got what your 10C membership entitles you to: a chance to buy tickets ahead of the general public. Might consider deflating that inflated sense of entitlement, bucko.

And speaking as a 10C member who bought Ticketek tickets (as I only need one, not a pair) - thank the goddamn lord there's no 10C only section. People such as myself (or even hardcore PJ fans who aren't in 10C - yes, they exist, you may be surprised to learn) deserve every chance to get as good a viewpoint as anyone else.

... Good to hear that during last night's Rotterdam show there was a 10c section. Call it the fixer or something else, thats all I'm after. And yes I do think the fanclub members should be looked after and if you're not a member, you're the one missing out, a one off payment of $25 gives you the same positions as all the others.

Guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed to see the show from a good spot as we're all sure it'll be awesome!

You don't think pre-sale tickets AND early entry to the venue is being looked after enough?

  • im pretty happy that they are playin outdoors again. pearl jam was the first concert i ever saw at thebarton oval in adelaide all those years ago. there was 30 thousand people there and the mosh pit was awesome, it does suck a bit that us members dont really get anything other than getin in early, but atleast there back. the adelaide oval should be a great venue and seeeing the advertisments on the tv always brings back good memories amd puts a smile on my face
