If you end up with an extra pair either South or I will be able to fine someone to buy them. Not even a problem. Keep in mind I think Portland is going to be a good show for people with high numbers.
Cool!

help!
How far is downtown portland from the venue?
Are there any hotels close to the venue?
Venue is 10-15 minutes from Portland, just over the Columbia, but sorta out in the country (the area has the nation's most famous urban/rural boundary). Plenty of lodging in Vancouver (Wash.), which is the nearest town, a suburb of Portland.

I'd say its about 20 minutes north of Portland. 10 - 15 north of Vancouver depending on where you are. If you are going to stay in Vancouver, you might as well stay in Portland. Much more going on. Another bonus for out of towners is Oregon has no sales tax, so if you are going to be spending any money, you will better off doing it in Oregon where you will save save save!
Traffic is the biggest nightmare at the Amphitheater. I'm looking for a way to drive part way and bike the rest.

so closest hotel to venue is how far?
or is it too country for hotel?
The great thing about the Portland area is that the planning policies since the 70's have prevented urban sprawl. Anything is within 20 minutes.

Im about to buy tickets to this portland show... feeling pretty lack luster about the venue. Anyone know anything about the Ampitheater, the area or what it has to offer?

there isn't really jack squat anywhere near the amphitheater. One bar/restaurant. It's a dive, but good bar food and strong drinks.
the venue itself is newer and hasn't been trashed. About 1/3 of the place is reserved seats under a giagantic awning. the sound is pretty good. Getting out after the show will most likely be a clusterfuck. Traffic is a nightmare because it's one road out. Try to carpool with some people if you can and you get special parking. There's another topic here...I think that started when the show was announced and I posted options for parking or mass transit that might help.
Vancouver (where I live) has hotels and stuff, but if you're going to site see, Portland is where it's at. If you're just coming for the show I'd stay in The 'Couve. Cheaper and closer to the venue.
I will let you out of towners know that transportation to/from the Amphitheater is a pain in the ass. There is one road in and that same road lets everyone out. No alternate route. On more than one occasion, I've sat in that parking lot afterwards for an hour or two just trying to get to the nearby freeway and getting there isn't any easier if you arrive too close to the event time.
I'm mentioning this because there is a shuttle bus that takes you to/from a nearby park and ride that costs like $5 for the round trip.
The amphitheater also provide this type of special parking called "yes" parking. You basically print out this sign from their website and you get expedited parking and exiting. You have to have 4 people or more in your car to do this. No guarantee, but when I was there for Coldplay we were let out in 10 minutes.
The venue doesn't allow tailgating, but if you behave yourself, they don't hassle you. We even discretely kicked back some beers and didn't get in trouble.
The venue itself is out in the country somewhat, a 5-10 minutes drive from Vantucky (where I live), there is only one restaurant/bar in the area. So, you will want to plan your prefunctioning accordingly.
I'll be trying for 10c tickets for the first time. Not concerned about my seats just excited that they are coming. I'll be coming up from Eugene if anyone is interestd in carpooling.
Good luck, hopefully it should be an easy one. **Crosses Fingers anyways **

Everyone doing Vancouver too?
Nah, I can only swing both Seattle shows and this Portland area show.
I was in Vancouver, BC in 2005 for the PJ show - what a good gawd damn time!! I love that city!!
Same here, I am going to try and swing vancouver too. Not sure how it is going to work, as I'm out of money. But hopefully something works out. That 05 show was awesome, it was such a different show from the Gorge. That was a great time. Here's for another memorable week.
I could be wrong, but I think that's just week days.

Just search for lodging in Ridgefield, WA.
