Only a short clip but to me it sounds better than anything after Yield (excluding Lost Dogs of course). Comparing to (IMHO) mediocre "The Fixer" and lame "Speed Of Light"/"Got Some" this one might be a classic.

you can tell that it's a classic from a 30 second clip?

Claiming this is their best song in 11 years based on a 15 sec clip? It could be great, but let's calm down.

I love how he calls "The Fixer" mediocre and the other two songs lame like we agree with him.

Thats just the chorus. The rest of the song is a sequal to Bugs.

Is "Speed of Light" a b-side? I thought the "Speed of Sound" demo was fantastic. "The Fixer" is a great first single. That doesn't mean it's a classic song by any stretch of the imagination...but a good single. "Got Some" has massive potential as does "The End"

Actually a 15 second clip (times two) ;) And yeah, only 15 seconds of this song moves me more than any other PJ album song since Faithful. And BTW Faithful was one of the first songs to leak in 1998 before Yield was released. Remember listening to it in my high school computer class and it sounded SO good. Like Amongst The Waves now :D Strong melody. Yeah.

First off, you got to be smoking some serious stuff to say that "Got Some" is lame. That song is too say the least INTENSE! It should be a smash hit but ofcourse its PJ and not some sell out Nickleback group so I'll be shocked if it gets the recognition it should get. As to what you say about Amongst the Waves I totally agree, it sounds like Eddie at his best(classic Eddie). The Fixer, yeh it's different but it's cool man and thats the trademark of PJ, their stuff is always completely different than the last and ahead of the game. That's the great thing about PJ is every time you listen to something new its grows more and more on you. Finally as to "Speed of Sound" being called anything but BEAUTIFUL is crazy.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

  • The 15 second clip I have on my phone has been listened to sooo many times in the last few days, there is something about this song that's really drawing me to it, more than any other song ive heard up to now. (And unless I hear it in Manchester or London next week, I dont intend listening to anythin else off the album til its out, even if there's a leak, ive only heard Got some, Fixer and this til now, havent listend to speed of sound and am saving The End, im led to believe its savage!)

I was thinking about it today and you could honeslty take a 15 second clip from "any" Pearl Jam song (barring some experiments) and make it sound amazing. This clip does nothing for me and is most likely not too representative of the song as a whole.

Sorry you feel that way about Speed of Sound and Got Some though
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

Anyone remember the uproar over WWS when the clip first surfaced. People thought it was a Offspring ripoff. So lets just cool the jets everybody.
