Well, I'm sad to say, but it appears my iPod of about 4 years is about to kick the bucket. I'm interested in a 32GB iPod Touch. Anyone here have one? Thoughts? The wifi sounds cool, but I'm a tech moron and don't know how that works. I have wireless in my house, so will I be able to surf on it at home? To use an app I download do I have to be near a wifi spot if it is something like Google Maps or something? How's the video and whatnot?

The iPod Touch is great. if you have wireless in your house, then you can connect online and get your email and stuff. You also can look for hot spots when out and about that you can get online too. Because its not the phone, you do need to be near a spot for google maps, etc,. Video is good, downloaded a movie and it played nicely on it.

the only real draw back is that battery does go faster when you set it to search for hot spots- because it constantly searches for it.

Will prices be going down soon? I'd hate to pay $350 now and then two months from now they drop $100. I never know how the pricing trends work on stuff like this

it all depends on if Apple is going to release a new version or not. Check their site to see if any upcoming trade shows or news is in the works.

Unless something new is coming, prices usually stay the same.

I wonder if getting just an iPhone would be worth it? But if I can get the wifi on the Touch, why pay for a media package on a iPhone. Plus, i don't even know what the biggest size of iPhone there is. I'd want at least a 30

Wait until September 9th. Apple is refreshing its iPod line. iPod Touch is likely gonna get a capacity boost to 64gb, maybe some other features too.

My nephew has had one since christmas, and loves it.

just bought my GF one last week, and she really seems to like it.

oh yeah, got it from Best Buy for 50 bucks off normal price. ;)
    Peace, Love.

  • I just got a 8G touch about a month ago and I can't put it down. The apps are the coolest especially the free ones and there are so many categories to choose from.Anything you can think of they got it.ie I will be in Chicago for the shows and I was able to download all the bus routes for .99
I was going to buy a re-furbished one cos that's what I did when I got my nano, but I just didn't feel like waiting. All in all I feel like it was worth the money. My one and only bitch about ipods is their ear buds. They are terrible.I've been using Skull candy Ink'ed buds and I think they sound pretty good for how much they cost $16. I think they sound better than some others that I have paid $40 for. I find if you adjust the EQ to the high treble setting they sound the best IMO.

purchased one for my gf a few months ago, I have a nano but after using hers, I cant put it down, very responsive and user friendly, not sure about how far the price will actually drop, IME apple tends to stay around the same price, until a newer version comes out anyway

Good call Wolf. I think the baby cutting into my Xbox 360 time might lead me to selling it and my games. That could cover a good chunk.

I have one and love the fricken thing. SO much more functionality than a 'normal' ipod. I would definitely wait, though, rumor has it that they may be incorporating a camera. Not sure, but even if you don't want the latest bells and whistles you could probably get an older version at a pretty decent price after the new ones come out.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

One thing I noticed is that the 32GB is like $30 cheaper at Wal Mart. Is that legit? I know sometimes Wal Mart gets the "bottom of the barrel" when it comes to products to keep things cheap, and I don't want that to happen if I'm going to drop $360 on a new iTouch

one more stupid question...is it true that none of the old accesories for older versions of the iPod don't work on second gen iTouch?

i think that's true....my friend that has one says the charger isn't the same, at least.

it just so happens i seem to have lost my 80gb ipod today. :( it was in perfectly good condition so this is a bummer but i'm thinking about upgrading to the touch.
