chicago help - beer bar before Sunday show
Will be in town to go to the Sunday show. Getting in Sunday morning and after grabbing cinnamon rolls from Ann Sather's, checking into the hotel, and picking up the 10C tickets, a friend and I plan on getting pizza and beers. I'm a beer geek and am looking to find a bar with a nice selection, particularly Three Floyds, Goose Island, or anything else from the region.
Any recommendations? Bonus points if it is close to the Hyatt on Wacker or the United Center. I've been told that the Map Room (near the Western-O'Hare stop) or Hopleaf (near the Berwyn stop) have the best selection, and while those look great, they appear to be pretty far north. If those would be good places, any idea how long it would take to get from either bar down to the United Center on the L on a Sunday night?

Map room is good.
Hopleaf is good.
Goose Island Clybourne is great for GI beers.
Piece Brewing is pretty decent (and near the Map Room)...they have there own beers, not bad at all.
When I'm in the Chcago area it's generally the following:
Binny's and Sam's to buy beer
Gi CLybourn, Map Room, Piece, and then I take the time to drive to 3 floyds (only about 45 minutes - and WELL worth it).
What kind of beers do you like? GI Clybourn currenlty has 1 of my favs, Bourbon County Stout on DRAFT, it's awesome...but over 13% so can only have a few.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Hit the other spots for a nice buzz then come drink our shitty beer since it all tastes the same after that.http://www.fancorps.com/wishlistfoundation/view/25753|187003.jpg

Thanks for the info. If we time it right we may be able to hit the Map Room, one of the other places, and then the pre-party. I will be on the lookout for Bourbon County Stout. I like pretty much everything, particularly imperial stouts and DIPAs, although it probably isn't a good idea to consume too many of the big beers since it will be a long day.
I wish I could drive to Three Floyds! Maybe next trip.Post edited by cbbjr on98-KC; 00-Indianapolis, StL, KC; 03-KC, DC; 04-DC; 06-Camden2, DC, Pittsburgh; 08-DC; 09-Chicago1, Spectrum3; 10-DC; 13-Baltimore; 16-Chicago1; 18-Seattle2; 22-NY; 23-St Paul1&2, Chicago1; 24-Chicago2, NY1, Baltimore0 -
