Re: House Bill 1393 Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act

Dear [Representative or Senator's last name]:

I'm writing to ask your support for HB 1393, the Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act introduced by Representative Mark Cohen and referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services.

[Why this bill is important to you, and stories of people you know who might benefit.]

I agree with Mr. Cohen's statements that medical marijuana is "an idea whose time has come," that now is the time for "cures, not wars on patients," and that we need to have a "new, honest image of marijuana."

Thank you for considering my views on this bill.

Sincerely,

[YOUR NAME]

All i can tell you is to shut up about it not passing if you want to be negative and not help don't bother posting.

our polls and lobby efforts are showing it is going to pass. but we need everybodys help

    cancelled due to budget deliberations:

legislative hearings on hb 1393 house majority policy committee
    previously set for september 2
will be rescheduled in september or october

ok since the hearing is postponed here is what we need to do

we have to get our fellow PA peeps to

    1. Send in written testimony by email or mail

    2. call there local reps

    3. call some of members of the COMMITTEE ON HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

    4. philly norml could use some donations there the ones who came up with and got this bill going

I always get the feeling that when bills like this pass, suddenly a lot more people will turn up with conditions that require "treatment" by marijuana.

Personally, I don't care either way if it's legal, but what percentage of people TRULY would need to use it for medical purposes?

I was watching some news show a few weeks ago (not sure which one).

They were in California interviewing people who were in line to get their "Medical Marijuana". It was a complete fucking joke. A bunch of kids, and it was obvious that 90-95% of them were so full of shit, that it was coming out of their ears. The news guy would ask them what their medical condition was, and these potheads would just put a big grin on their faces, and come up with a line of bullshit. Medical marijuana my ass.

No different than pain-killers... there will always be some "doctors" who will prescribe anything to anyone as long as they are getting paid.

which is the greater evil?...some kids exploiting the laws and getting high legally (as opposed to ignoring the laws and getting high illegally)?....or denying claims from legit patients because there are 'losers' exploiting the system?
here's a novel approach.... legalize it for everyone and voila! No more worrying about 'losers' exploiting sick people?
anti-drug assholes don't give a shit about anything but their own rigid beliefs. It's DISGUSTING that they can be presented with decades worth of research proving that prohibition is not working, yet they prefer to ride the coattails of the drug czars and preachers....

and they are usually the first to ask 'why should I pay for someone else's health care!?!?' but do they scream about having to pay for a potheads trial and incarceration? do they cry about the pharmaceutical industry exploiting sick people for a profit??

yes it does. Booze is a DRUG. You get to drink it.

marijuana is a drug. You don't get to smoke it.

How is that not relevant? You said everyone will want to smoke it. So what? Everyone is allowed to drink? why are we not allowed to smoke it and who cares how many people smoke it? Not everyone drinks because it's legal. :)

No - it really doesn't have anything at all to do with this topic.

But just to attempt to play along with in that skewed direction.

Do you think if alcohol were illegal there would be people pushing to legalize it for medical purposes? I think there probably would be, but how many of us today would think they were legit?

(and next someone will cite how a glass of wine a day helps lower cholesteral, etc., etc., but you know what I mean here).
