What kind of cameras are people taking?

In 2006, all I had were disposable cameras for the Pearl Jam concerts I went to. That was like 32 shots each. Since then I have purchased a digital camera - a Canon Power Shot SD 750. I have a 4.0 GB memory card in it, which has the potential for 1,000's of shots. Who here is familiar with cameras, and how many pictures could I potentially get (along with video)?
11/6/95, 11/18/97, 7/13/98, 7/14/98, 10/24/00, 10/25/00, 10/28/00, 6/2/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 7/6/06, 7/7/06, 7/9/06, 7/10/06, 7/13/06, 7/15/06, 7/16/06, 7/18/06, 10/21/06, 4/10/08, 4/13/08, 9/30/09, 10/1/09, 10/6/09, 10/7/09, 10/9/09

yea, im looking to buy a camera. Something that would work well at the show..anyone have suggestions?
  • i dont like people with vid cameras or phones at shows, gets on my nerves when people just hold cameras to film, blocking peoples view.

i think you should just enjoy the show and enjoy the bootlegs

not saying it shouldnt happen or that i perticularly care, its just when every other person has a camera in the air it gets annoying

Well technically, you can't since it says right on your ticket "no cameras"

Thats not to say people don't do it anyway

If price is no issue, try and find the now discontinued Canon PowerShot G9. The G10 included more (but smaller) megapixels, but for low-light situations, the less (10 megapixels on the G9, 12 on G10) but larger megapixels are preferable.

have a NIkon coolpix - loved my old one - HATE my new one! battery (even the rechargeable ones) are always "exhausted". Took it to EV and got one picture (new batteries) and it wouldn't take anymore. I am taking it back to the store...

    exactly.

if i were to recommend a point and shoot, personally i strongly suggest the panasonic lumix. it has like an 11 or 12x zoom, various pixel settings so you can choose your quality, intuitive and easy to use features and a leica lens. i've had about 4 point and shoots since they first were developed - an olympus, a canon powershot, a sony cybershot and now the lumix. the lumix is head and shoulders above all else, tho the sony was my fave for years.

as to how many pictures you can get, depends on what you set your camera for. obviously, if you set it for 2 megapixel pictures rather than 9 megapixels....you'll be able to take a LOT more pictures, but sacrifice quality. i almost always shoot at the highest setting. at concet, unless you intend to take picture after picutre and picture theu the entirety of the show, i'd not worry too much about it, you should not run out of space if your card is wiped clean to start off the evening.

as to whomever said you are not supposed to take pictures, untrue. the 'no camera's on most tickets is standard practice on tickets, but if you check out the 10c info on the top0ic, it clearly states cameras ARE allowed, just not professional equipment.
    Stay with me...

None of these camera's are "PROFESSIONAL".They are all just point and shoot models that don't have
removable lenses. They are just top of the line point and shoot's.Totally acceptable and legal. ;)

Mate, that is my camera also.
Took it to Wembley 2007 and got some great shots and videos.
Security did take it away at the door to have it checked, but it got the OK.
