Me and at least another three PJ fans have the same thoughts. We're thinking of visiting PJ related places:

I'm also looking for some suggestions from Seattle experienced people!

Obviously there are the the big touristy things:

    Pike Place Market http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/
    - I like to eat at Lowell's, order and go up to the 3rd floor(can get busy at lunch/breakfast times so try and hit a bit in between) for a great view of the waterfront while you eat. Lots of vendors to shop at for some nice artwork/handcrafts. The first Starbucks is there too if you like that sort of thing.

Nearby is the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) http://www.seattleartmuseum.org/ which is always a fun visit
Take a look at Benaroya hall nearby.

    Seattle Center http://www.seattlecenter.com/
-You'll be here for the concert(s) so might as well check it out, Science Center is entertaining, specially if you have little ones with ya, with the Imax if you wanna catch a movie. Dick's Is nearby for a greasy burger, but their fries aren't nearly as good as they used to be since they changed cooking oils. Also a few decent bars; Floyd's Place (bbq in the day, bar at night), Ozzies(has 2 karaoke bars inside) the Spectator for sports and cheap beers after 10.
-Space Needle http://www.spaceneedle.com/ is there too, sometimes ya just gotta do it.

I LOVE having beers at shortys. major pinball fan and the whole place is done out with a big arcade in the back. the tables in the eating area are made out of old pinball games. its pretty casual place to chill with friends and have cheap swill.

After shortys and beer, i usually walk down the block to a wicked mexican place called MAMA's really really good.but go early cuz it gets packed. then i catch a cab and go to whatever show I am seeing, also you can see the legendary crocodile cafe because it is really close to the aforementioned verse, i mean, places.

Thanks! We'll have two days. So I guess some of it is definitely doable.

Same here. I'm wondering if its possible to get into the old studios, things like that. I'm definitely trying to hit up as many historical hotspots as possible not just for PJ, but where the rest of the grunge/alternative movement took form as well.

Just a note, on that older guide, things have changed since they were updated and I'd do some research beforehand to make sure what you wanna do is still there.

    Major things about that:
All the meters take Credit Cards now, parking is free after 6pm and on Sundays on the streets. The lots are all run by one company and are very pricey in the good locations. Also don't try to not pay and get away with it, somehow they got the ability from the city to write their own legal parking tickets.

Most of those clubs are gone, Showbox is still there though (Showbox @ The Market as It's now Called, as opposed to Showbox SODO, the sister club on the south side of the city)

The Stranger is still a great place for info.

Gasworks has a great view of the city for photos, also if you're in that area visit the Fremont Troll (on Troll St under the Bridge) and maybe have some Fish and Chips on the water at Ivar's Salmon House or somewhere else in Fremont, lots of good food there.

Traffic. sucks. always. I've been in a traffic jam at 3am before in the city. So plan for it.

Mama's !!! Amazing. Was a tradition for me every trip down, especially if I was going to the Croc.
There's a lot to be said for nowhere...

We definitely have to try it. I'm not sure what the other three plan to do exactly (I only had pm-contact with one of them) but I will do some research on the grunge/alternative historic places.
In one of the articles above say said that you sometimes are allowed to peek inside The Moore. Maybe that would work. Showbox is another idea.

I'll travel to Seattle by ferry. Won't have a car and that seems not to be that bad.....

When I was in Seattle last year my cousin claimed that Mike worked at Kidd Valley when in HS. Does anyone know if this is true?

Was looking for this yesterday, didn't know the name til I was at Seattle Center Last night (Harry Potter Imax!)

    http://www.citypass.com/city/seattle.html

One of those discount passes, if You're gonna do 3 of the things, you'll be saving money. Space Needle day/night pass alone is $21 and the EMP is at least $20 to put it in perspective.

The aquarium is nice, and near Pike Place Market, it's kinda small and you BC folks have a better one in Vancouver imo.

The Woodland Park Zoo is amazing, a bit outside of downtown, near gasworks park. I go there every month or 2 with my nephews, but it's good for all ages and they just redid the penguin exhibit!

Science Center is more aimed at kids, but fun nonetheless and it's right in Seattle Center.

harbor cruise is nice, haven't done one in a long time but I remember enjoying it, a good way to get a unique view of Seattle.

    Salumi's http://www.salumicuredmeats.com/ has weird hours:
    Tuesday-Friday 11am-4pm

but make it there if you can, and take the block walk to the Waterfall Gardens http://seattle.citysearch.com/profile/10777653 to eat your delicious sammich.

Rochester! Nice! I'm flying out with my friend...we're from Canandaigua! What flight you heading out on? We couldn't believe how cheap they were.

No shit! Well, I might be flying out of Chicago since I'm supposed to be at the ND game that weekend. Are you flying out of ROC of BUF? What were they running?

Flying out of ROC...$238 round trip...can't complain there! Coast to coast is usually $400-$500
  • one of my favorite places... breakfast at easy street in west seattle. after breakfast....check out alki beach...also in west seattle. great view of downtown, the sound and the olympics.

pike's place market is a must! showbox is right nearby...the "green room" is open at 5 for drinks and food.

gasworks park on lake union...also great view of downtown.
