Anyone heard of this?

If so, what the hell does it mean?

Here's the link if you want to hear it: (mp3)

It's a joke that he has told in Dublin twice. That version is from the 2000 gig. The punchline comes from the fact that the venue for the gig was called the Point Depot - usually just known as 'the Point'. Hence the punchline 'But what's the point? It's this great place to play in Dublin!'

He told another version of the joke in 2006 - most of us that were there in 2000 recognised what he was doing straight away, and if you listen to the boot closely you can hear some guy yell out the punchline before Eddie does.

The Point has now been spruced up as the O2 Dublin.
When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
    Chasing something in the night.
  • lol! that was great. ty

This first version is based on a Taoist parable. http://clublet.com/why?ChuangTsesHorse

The second version seems to be based on a conversation Ed had with Bono, going by the Q article. He seems to have adapted to the Chuang Tsu thing. I remember yelling out the punchline - along with many others - before he said it, & I think he sounded like he'd been busted. http://www.yousendit.com/download/Y1Rvb ... Um14dnc9PQ

OK then, from the half a note we can hear at the end of the story, what song is about to be played?

    I'm guessing MFC????
