    I'll be 48 this October. Old enough to have lived through 70's rock and able to re-live all of that with PJ. A little too young back then to go to many concerts. So now I can really have fun.     IT is a pleasant surprise to see big-name entertainers still come to Perth without a purpose-built indoor stadium to accommodate them. US rock legends Pearl Jam recently announced their fifth visit to WA with a one-off in November.

    In the 14 years since first visiting WA in 1995 and after stints at the Perth Entertainment Centre, Burswood Dome and Subiaco Oval, the Seattle act will this time take to the stage at Perth Oval.

    Punters will certainly be closer to the action than at Subiaco Oval. Also there wont be the questionable acoustics of the Entertainment Centre and the Perth Oval promises to have much more atmosphere than at the Dome.

    But not all concerts are suited to outdoor stadium-type venues. And not all concerts are held in good weather.

    Meanwhile the old Entertainment Centre still sits there vacant and the new arena is still some time away.

    Perth needs to get its act together.
