Are they really that much behind PJ or the Beasties popularity wise?

That would be an amazing turn of events for Jack Black, especially on his 40th BDay weekend!

Check out that thread that popped up long ago about how movie execs would NOT let Tenacious D play that festival!

Perhaps a collaboration with PJ during the festival!

Thats funny that they got in. I remember a few months back hearing that they were asked to open for PJ but Jack Black couldn't get 2 days off working on a movie to do the show (which he wanted to do because its PJ and its also his birthday on the 28th).. now he's set to headline on the 30th..

Only NOW am I jealous of those attending.
I actually went to see them a couple of years ago. It was the best. Ever.

Satan on drums, Charlie Chaplin on bass, and Lee sitting near the back of the stage on a couch watching TV and hitting bowls? Ah, what a great show.

While it's fully understandable that getting another top notch band 3 weeks before the festival is going to be impossible ... this is pretty embarassing.

They should really move another Sunday act like Modest Mouse to the headlining spot ... or hell, not that i'm a huge fan, but even MIA as a Sunday headliner is less embarassing than this.

Tenacious D is bigger than both of those bands, probably combined and not really an embarrassment at all.

their message board has someone who claims to know what they are talking about claiming TOOL will repalace th Beastie Boys. I can see adding the D... but as a headliner? this cannot be true. i have my money on Tool.

MIA sold over 2 million copies of Paper Planes, that's why I added her to the replacement list.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say more people would have stayed to see Modest Mouse than they will Tanaciuos D.

I'm all for backfilling a spot earlier in the day with Tanacious D, but, not as a headliner.

I stand corrected. they actually did get them to replace the Beastie Boys. Now for SURE i am just getting the one day pass. and hell, with all the cancellations this wil cause, they might offer discount 10c tickets like calgary had to do.

    Cancellations? Won't happen.

I'm sure like every other festival, they have the language "Lineup subject to change, all sales are final" language when you buy the tickets.

Also, Sunday is still a really good day for a lot of folks.
