PJ Wedding Music?

So I'm getting married a week from Saturday, and my one assignment from my bride-to-be was to assemble a playlist for the reception. She told me about this duty in January, and being the responsible thirty year old I am, I've started in this morning. So I'm asking everyone to throw out some of their favourite wedding songs.

Any PJ material that fits either the ceremony or reception?

Any other picks for the ceremony or reception? Please keep in mind that the reception music should be tunes we can dance to...

Any help on this would be really appreciated - thanks!!

I would go with some covers like "Picture In A Frame", "Can't Help Falling In Love", "Harvest Moon", "Forever Young", and maybe "You're True". All of these are more eV than PJ, but I think they would work nicely. Congrats to you! :D

Sorry, I didn't see that at first. Cuttin' a rug to the songs I named might be quite challenging!
  • I wouldn't suggest Betterman.

I don't think a song about an abusive husband is appropriate for a wedding.

I think I slow danced to Come Back. Though I think it was by myself or I imagined it, as most of the girls I know will only dance to Lady Ga Ga or Black Eye Peas.
  • My sister and brother-in-law used Soldier of Love from July 03, 2003 cause they were both at that concert and slow danced to it.

I'm sure a lot of people have done this, but I made sure that the last dance of the night at my reception was to Yellow Ledbetter. It seemed like a proper way to close out the nights festivities.

Well, like so many concerts that I have been to the last song of the night at my wedding was Yellow Ledbetter.

We also had Can't Help Falling In Love, she went for the Elvis version, although the PJ one can work. A couple years back I remember someone either on this board or another one had created a version of the song that started with Elvis and then about half way through it changed to the PJ version.

Whatever you do choose, congratulations on the wedding, have a wonderful day!

"Long Road" would be a good song for the occasion.

I did the exact same thing. Everyone on my side of the wedding party were Pearl Jam fans, so it was a good way to end the night.
  • Mmmm, I just got married! I made a playlist and played it in the car that brought me and my wife to the wedding party:

    01) Can't help falling in love
    02) Parachutes
    03) Oceans
    04) Low Light
    05) Love Boat Captain
    06) Love Reign 'oer Me
    07) Smile
    08) Thumbling my way
    09) Picture in a Frame
    10) Harvest Moon
    11) Yellow Ledbetter

All PJ or PJ covering others 8-)
Was great, right after getting married... was like Ed blessing us

  • A couple weeks ago for our wedding we had some relatives play Into the Wild tracks on acoustic guitars for bridesmaid and groomsen entrances. Last dance was 'Picture in a Frame' followed immediately by Yellow Ledbetter with the lights on... lots of fun.

Oh yeah, also remember hearing PJ Dock of the Bay at some point which was a surprise

I think lowlight is so beautiful. I am thinking of walking down the aisle to the instrumental.

    You beat me to it.

I had them play Black just because it is my all time favorite song. It was the last song of the evening.

PJ covering Elvis'...Canthelpfallinginloveagain. Maybe Golden State. Then a bunch of dance tunes...forget PJ for a night. I did convince our DJ to turn the lights on and play yellow ledbetter to end the night (I only think one other person got it though {She's gotten a few of my 10c tix, BTW}).

We're getting married in October, and my fiancee will be walking down the aisle to Tuolumne. It's going to be a very autumnal themed wedding, and we think that beautiful composition fits perfectly. For when the guests are arriving at the venue, we're going to be playing a selection of songs by Justin King and Andy McKee, which I think also have that autumnal feeling.

For the first dance we're thinking Yellow Ledbetter but we're not totally set on that!! It's really tough to choose. There will be a few PJ songs for the reception but I think, for the sake of most of the guests, it'll mostly be a good mix of crowd pleasers from all genres.
