In search of a good mp3 editing program

I'm looking for a free download of a program (or any way possible) to be able to edit some mp3's down to just the intro's. I'm making a cd of intro's as part of a 'music trivia' game, and only need the first 30 seconds or so instead of the whole song. Trying to get more songs on the CD. Anyone know of a good way to do this?

yep Audacity is pretty good for what you need

if you have itunes, you can do it there too. Just right click any song and go to info. There you will find an edit option that allows you to edit a song completely (cut the intro off, cut the ending off, etc)

when you record it to cd it plays exactly how you edited it
