i think it's about $45/50 including tip....I don't really have a style that has to be kept up and I can trim my own bangs so I try to go as long as I can before getting it cut again...usually 3-4 months

$10 + tip which depending on my mood and time of year can average between $3 & $5....maybe $10 around Christmas.

  • usually like $12 + tip...

When I was in college, there was this local barber that everyone called Four Dollar Bill (his name was Bill and he charged $4)... You could go at 9AM or 5PM and he'd be drinking a jack and coke (strong enough to smell). So, the idea was to go early enough in the day before he got too drunk, but late enough so the shakes had wore off.

    Good times...

I pay $20 tip included, but I hate it! I can cut my own hair, but my wife insist that I must go to super cuts or sone other crap like that, I don't know but maybe she want to stimulate the economy, but I want try again the grunge look those were the good times

I shave my own head at home. (I'd much rather have hair and have to pay... but, you know. )

I shave my head but much prefer it to having hair (not that i'd have much anyway) - so much easier to care for a shaved head than having hair. I never liked my hair anyway - wish i had shaved it when i was younger.

    Funny...

I got a hair (or 4) trimmed yesterday and posted this on a local board when I got home...

I've actually posted a 'rave' for this same place in the past... but today I popped in and asked for 'just a trim'. I got just that... I walked in the shop at 4:07 and when I checked the time as I walked on to the sidewalk it was 4:19.

I had no shampoo, no fluff & dry... no product put in my hair aside from water to wet it... and was in the shop for 12 minutes...

    $27.00! :|

Yeah... I paid and left a $3 tip ... but I suppose if price was a factor, I should have asked before sitting in the chair... Next time I will ...

The board mod railed me for not 'contacting the manager of the business with my 'rant'... as it is board rules'... I think I'm just a crappy message board poster ;)

    ha!
back when i had bangs, i'd pop in for a trim maybe every 4-6 weeks. i was there 5-7 minutes, tops.....$5. i usually didn't tip as the owner was the guy who always does my hair in any case. i mean, i guess some other places might rip off even more...so while i thought eh, $5, not bad.....it also is pretty steep for very little work.

that said, if i go just for a cut - no shampoo or blowout - it's $20. if i get the full treatment, it's $40. my hair is dead easy for em to cut too.....it's just looooonnnnnng. i get my hair cut perhaps once a year, especially now that the bangs are gone!

there was a time that i paid $70 for my cut. that was when i was on the east coast and had been going to the same guy for like 10 years.

when i moved to seattle, i tried a few places that friends had suggested (all in upscale, expensive places). i figured it was worth it to pay that much if the results were great. but they werent.

so i decided that since it was a crapshoot regardless, i might as well save some money. i went to a few different supercuts-type places and found this sweet vietnamese girl who did a great job (for $15). but then she stopped working there. i found out it was because she became a manager at another shop that just opened 2 blocks from my house. so that's where i always go now...$13.95 plus tip (and they have a punch card which makes your tenth cut free). $5 for bang trim. $8 for brow wax.

just goes to show, it is just as easy to find a good stylist at an inexpensive shop as it is at one of those fancy overpriced shops.

More money doesn't mean better haircut.

I went to a fancy place once. It was like $50 for a haircut and took like an hour. It was THE worst haircut I ever had in my life. I could have cut it better myself. There were chunks of hair she completely missed..

On the other hand, I've paid $12 for haircuts at Cost Cutters. In and out in 10 minutes. Some of the best haircuts.

Right now my friends sister cuts it. She has worked at fancy places and cheap places. Really the people are all the same and its hit or miss. Find someone you like and stick to them. If you like to be pampered then paying more for a haircut might be what you want.

Did ya do the new thing with your fringe you were talkin about? we need pics!!!

I pay €15 for my haircuts. Less if I feel lazy and go to my local barber.
    So that's 23.1468 CAD or 21.5532 USD :D

no its still a side bang but thicker and more dramatic.
i wasn't too sure about it but when i got home and was hanging out with some people they all seemed to really like it... and the boyfriend loves it so i guess its ok... if they're all lying i'll hafto wear a hat the next few weeks though :)

What pisses me off most is not the price itself ... it's the fact that women are always paying much more than men. :D

Hmmm.......in the last 10-12 years I only remember paying for 1 hair cut. Ah, the joys of having a sister-in-law who is a hair stylist. Or whatever they want to be called. And I don't feel to bad hitting her up for free haircuts, because I only get my hair cut 1-2 times a year.

And the 1 I did pay for? That was last year when I visited my friend in NYC. I sorta got pressured into getting it cut, although it was pretty long, for a guy that is. Anyway, I paid like....$15 I think. It was a pretty good cut too.

    absolutely!
to trim my hair is a breeze, probably a lot less intensive than a good haircut for a guy!
    it's just bullshit.

maybe i need to start visiting barbershops and not hair salons?
