I'd like to show my appreciation to you for posting that in some small way -- do you need a kidney???
This was incredible, boy, is he hearing and feeling Hank, or what, Stoney baby, I want that album out, and I want it now!!!

Has anyone found video or audio of Stone doing any other Hank songs? I love Hank but not that song, and I wanted to hear something else. Searching [brad hank] on youtube is a little too broad.
I'm trying to decide whether to go up to NY for the Vince Mira show that Stone will be playing at. I like the Hank covers done by the Little Willies and Cary Ann Hearst & the Borrowed Angels, but so far I'm not sure about Stone's.

I've been going nuts trying to find video or audio, thought something from the High Dive would be available, but I don't think so many PJ fans care, considering the stuff you get from other solo shows...I had to find out his setlist from that night by going to the site in ITALY!!
I adore Cool Water, but different strokes. If you wouldn't mind a completely unsolicited opinion, don't debate about going to Stone's show, GO!!! Trust me, there isn't any worse feeling than wanting to do something, and not being able to, and I mean NOT BEING ABLE TO!! Take every chance that presents itself. End of fortune cookie

Thanks for the info and opinion MrsOakley! I actually don't know if I've ever heard Hank's Cool Water...I just have two cassettes my Da made for me off his LPs...I think one is an album and one is a greatest hits. But I didn't think Stone sounded much like Hank and I was hoping for something a little twangier from him, so I wanted to hear a Hank song I love and form a second opinion.
Going to the show would mean dragging my dog up to NY again. The past few times the traffic has been miserable, so it's hard to get motivated for a short visit. My dad's band does a "halfway to St. Patrick's Day" party every year, but wouldn't you know it, they chose the following Saturday instead of the same weekend as the Stone show. The money I would save by not going would probably frame both of my EV show posters. I was adding up the money I spent on tickets, merch, and food/drink for the EV NY shows...ouch. I didn't even count gas and tolls in that since I combined the shows with a weeklong visit to my parents.
On the other hand, it would be cool to go to the Living Room. When I was home from college and underage, a Virginia band played there after releasing a new CD, and my mom and I drove the 60 miles down to the Living Room. She went inside and bought me the CD, and we drove home.
Anybody else from here going? Sorry you can't make it MrsOakley. If they allowed taping with external mics, I would take one for the team and go up there, but the Living Room never allows taping. Lame.

Boy, you have cool parents, mine wouldn't have driven me 60 miles to an emergency room...I'm sorry you can't do it, I really wish you could, I know money is a real bitch, but I've found that, unless people are total prats, and I can tell you're not, money problems have a way of working themselves out better than all the other kinds of problems, and they are the ones that are most quickly forgotten, too.
Now don't forget, our Stoney is a many splendored thing, but he's not a honky tonk man, born and bred in Seattle, he's not going to twang like Hank, just like Hank would never come out with such sexy "fer shers!!" He's got the spirit, he's feeling it, but he's Stone, not an incredible simulation! Which has to be a relief, especially if he's playing with that Mira kid. God love him, but he had better find his own thing fast, and play down this "sounds like Johnny Cash" stuff, or else in a few years, he's going to be on VH-1 with a shaved head and the post-rehab shakes, smoking a cigarette and talking about how working the state fair and Knights of Columbus fundraiser circuits has put his life in better perspective --and that will be said to his interviewer, Leif Garrett
