Should VS have had a Parental Advisory sticker?

Probably not. But for some reason, The Presidents of the United States of America's debut album had a sticker on it and the only profanity is the line "Fuck you kitty, you're gonna spend the night....." repeated 3 times. "Fuck" is said 2 times in "Go". One time in "Blood" (not counting Eddie screaming "fuck" 6 times at the end but that's kinda inaudible in the mix). And 7 times in "Leash"; once in the verse and 6 times in chorus with the "Get out of my fucking face" line". So yeah.....

I'm just tired of talking about Fixers, Halloween shows, Pharmacists, and the like.

Seems arbitrary. I wonder what the rules are.

Riot Act has several f-bombs because of Save You, but it didn't have sticker.

Didn't the lyrics in the booklet say "lucky" face? Maybe that's how they avoided the sticker.

I totally agree. But sometimes, parents do need a heads up.

For instance, I worked at a CD store once. A mother comes up to me with her 9 year old son and a copy of Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP. She was in her 40's...not exactly up on the latest music trends or warning stickers. She asked me, "Would this CD be alright for my son?" I could see in the kid's eyes he really wanted it. And I am by no means the type of dude to fuck someone out of their music. But I had to be honest with the lady. I said "No way. Maybe in a few years. But if he listens to it now...it's all over for him."

that's funny. that's like something the Queens of the Stone Age would put on their next album. "Warning: This Album Fucking Rules"

Good for you. I had a similar experience when some parents came up to me to ask me about a Tori Amos album (Under the Pink) which I f-ing love. Musically I think she's tops so it kind of broke my heart a little bit to give them a completely honest assessment for their 8 (or so) year old daughter. They made a point to tell me that they were pretty religious and had heard that she sang about some religious material.

Ultimately I told them that she covers a lot of ground including religion, sex, and violence, and that while I thought she was a brilliant artist and musician it was probably still a little too early for their daughter to be picking up what Tori puts down. I'd be a little disgusted with myself for censoring what that little girl could hear but, as someone who wasn't her parent, I knew that she'd still have her entire life to get around to discovering great music.

I think used as an expletive is one thing. F this, F that, get out of my F'ing face.

I think used in a sick or sexual manner is another thing.

I the former is not getting the sticker, while the latter is.

I agree with you there. I like the stickers so parents can get that little extra help. I will be the first to admit that I think the swearing is pretty useless, but they really don't bother me in PJ's stuff. I mean I hear some hip hop a lot at the restaurant where I work and it is so disgustingly vulgar, I believe just for the sake of being vulgar. But I can tell that PJ doesn't just stick those words in for some shock value.

Like I went to a concert and saw Tom DeLong of Blink 182 and he just seemed to swear for the sake of swearing onstage which is a little much.
