Should I be surprised?
Always second in the race
Tears roll down
I miss your face

You awoke and rolled
Out of bed
While there I lied
Still to be wed

The morning came
I knew no different
Somehow I feel
So adolescent

Still holding on
A wave crashing the shore
Funny how it’s your face
In which I adore

I sometimes wish
The morning never came
Wide awake
Nothing’s the same

Can dream all I want
Can’t forget this taste
And the fact that you
Miss his face

I’ll still hold on
My boat ready to capsize
Will things return to normal?
So hard to hide

Built a foundation
So many years in the making
Down with the rain
He has taken

Roll over so frequently
To see if you’re near
All of this has left me
In terrible fear

Can dream all I want
Can’t forget this taste
And the fact that you
Miss his face

Should I be surprised?
Always second in the race
Tears roll down
I miss your face
Adolescence in essence is all about trust.
Leaving is for the answering machine.
