So I arranged all of my Pearl Jam CDs (albums and singles) in chronological order on my CD self and I noticed that the last Pearl Jam release to come in the jewel case was the Immortality single in 1995. From Merkinball through Avocado, every Pearl Jam release has come in a customized cardboard type of case...including Live on Two Legs, Lost Dogs, RVM, and Into The Wild.

So yeah...

    They must have had the idea in motion before 95 because of the Vitalogy CD.

    yeah...as well as the the fact that the Vitalogy singles had that vinyl artwork thing going on.

    I was doing that, too. came across another obersavation though...that for awhile it was looking like their studio album covers either had the name "Pearl Jam" written on it...or the "title of the album" written on it. but not both. Except Riot Act fucked that theory. :lol: but seriously it was a nice lil pattern:

    Ten (PJ only written)
    Vs. (PJ only written)
    Vitalogy (album name only written)
    No Code (album name only written)
    Yield (PJ only written. I mean technically it says Yield but that doesn't count as it's part of the photo - not written)
    Binaural (album name only written)
    Pearl Jam (PJ only written)

    And of course Backspacer fucked it up, too.

    yeah there's a couple interesting tidbits with the album artworks and liner notes. Here's a few more:

    -Starting with Binarual (and including Into The Wild), Eddie has typed all the liner-notes on a typewriter.
    -Yield is the only album where Eddie is credited as "Ed"
    -Ten is the only album where the song titles are numbered on the back cover
