The Perfect Ten Club Contest would be...

It would have to be something ambitious to justify the ultimate prize. How about a contest to design the next issue of Deep? That includes layouts, illustrations, and content. It would probably be best to correlate it with the band and their music in some way. And don't forget to include a recipe! One guideline is it needs to all be original. Incorporating things from the internet might risk violating some copyright. You also must in some way demonstrate your writing skills to qualify for the ultimate prize: a trip to Pearl Jam headquarters! What can I say, I am sick of hearing about all these know-nothing know-it-all journalists getting access to the clubhouse of our dreams. So the esteemed winner of this contest will be sent to Seattle for a grand tour of their warehouse and an exclusive interview with one (or all) of the band members to include in your winning issue of Deep. Who knows, maybe you'll catch a rehearsal or at least get a chance to step inside the vault shown on the inside cover of Lost Dogs. This might sound improbable and an all-expense paid trip would cost a hell of a lot more than, say, signing one of their records and shipping it to you. This contest could be a way to help celebrate their 20th anniversary. It is like the ultimate thank you from pearl jam to us. Well, I can dream.

i agree that that would be a SWEET prize for any PJ contest

straight out of willy wonkas play book

im not much of a design/layout guy but between all my art friends (say the prize is a trip for 4) we would probably have a good shot at it

give this idea some serious thought kat!!

hell... i dont even need airfare paid for... just let me wander around for a few hours... maybe sit in on a rehearsal... play their instruments a little... send a mass email to 10C members rubbing it in... maybe get a couple posters on my way out... taste the snozberries

IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK??

Cool username. If this contest were to ever happen, I do believe a list of my Top Ten favorite Kurt Vonnegut would be in order. He is Eddie's favorite author, after all.

I think I read about Weezer having a contest similar to that. I don't know if Pearl Jam has anymore room for another songwriter. I admit, I wouldn't have the balls to hand over a song I co-wrote for them.

    thanks... yours is clever too

i think it would be great if they did a recommended books section in every deep... i always have the toughest time deciding on something and my tastes always seem to be pretty similar to theirs... recommended music might be cool too since they seem to really find/follow some pretty obscure bands

Ok, so the band's jamming out a new original they've been working on and Eddie's sitting at a table with a wild look in his eye scribbling franticly into his notebook. Then he stops hands the notebook to me and says "Check it out, see what you can do with that" An hour later I'm crossing his parts out saying "That doesn't really fit, we'll save it for another song" Stone just smiles.
    Things were different then

My idea of the ultimate prize even tops that. A meet and greet the band before or after a show! Tickets to the show included! After all, a trip to PJ headquarters would be sweet but the band would need to be there for it to be the ultimate.
