Cute cartoon by TT but the guy's had only 6 months to clean up 8 years of shitty government. If by the end of his first term we're still dealing with the same sort of situations, then we'll have something to complain about!

that is true but the cartoon is making fun of all the bush-esque things Obama is embracing and the change in all his rhetoric from when he was campaigning to now. so, it's not just a matter of not enough time but that he isn't going to do it.

Maybe he truly misunderestimated some policy that he was speaking out against. I, for one, like him playing it down the middle. It's always better to start off in the middle and make your way to the left. Hell, he has been fairly moderate in his first six months and the conservatives are flying off the handle. It will take time, but I think eventually he will come to the left.

As long as the left shifts far enough to the right.

he is limited by congress. the blue dogs are hamstringing him and holding him back. most of the reps and senators are up for re-election and they are afraid to do someting too drastic and end up alienating their constituents and getting voted out over it. it will be interesting to see what happens in the midterm congressional elections. if more progressive people replace the incumbents he will go more to the left. if incumbants keep their seats he might stay right where he is or maybe slightly to the left.

Congress being up for re-election has nothing to do with Obama deciding to indefinitely hold people in jail, embracing Bush's state secrets argument over torture and blocking any accountability, agreeing with warrantless wiretapping, the patriot act.......

Something Republicans and Democrats never seem to say is, "I was wrong."
