And how long did it take you to get used to putting them in?

I've had them for 10 days, and i gotta say. I'm getting ready to push my fist through the fucking bathroom mirror. Some days i can just pop them right in, others ( like right freakin' now ) i have all kinds of trouble.

it's really starting to piss me off !

thanks .

end rant.
Peace, Love.

i started wearing contacts when i was 14...and these were hard lenses not the soft ones used now and it was relatively easy since those lenses were smaller

when i switched to soft lenses have very small eye sockets so it was always a pain to get my eye open wide enough to get them in

then about 3 or 4 years ago i found a pair of glasses that didn't annoy the shit out of me so i only occasionally wear contacts and most of the time they go in ok

i usually put a few drops of solution or eye drops into the lens while it's on my finger...it helps suck the lens toward the eye

i have been wearing contacts FOREVER.

Can't recall how long it took me but I don't think it took too long--maybe a week to get used to them? They are kinda bugging me lately tho-- I gotta go do lasik surgery.

That was a lot of help I bet!! :)

    what he said
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

  • I have for probably close to 20 years, so I don't remember how hard it was to get used to...

I've switched brands over the years, and there are definitely some that fit better than others.

I just ordered glasses last week for the first time in like 8 years, so I'm hoping that I am comfortable wearing them and look ok, because I'd like to take a day off of contacts once in a while.

I've been wearing em for a few years. I usually put the contact on my left index finger, hold my top eyelash up with my right middle finger, and my bottom eyelash down with my left middle finger. Then I just pop the contact in, usually takes a second. Mirrors definitely help, and you just have to get used to making sure that the contact is not too dry, but also not too wet so that it doesnt just stick to your finger or whatever. Just give it a few more days.

I got tired of it all, and did the lasik about 5/6 years ago.Best decision I've made. From time to time, I do miss wearing glasses.

"Who wears contacts?" would be a more grammatically correct title for this thread.

i have been wearing them for about 15 years now. i started w/ gas permeable lenses (in between hard/soft) due to an astigmatism in my right eye. those were really tough for me to get used to...they would pop out of my eye randomly. once they got stuck in my eye...when i finally got them out, i had to go to the emergency room b/c they had caused an abrasion on my eye!!! sooooo....i'm glad i was able to switch to soft lenses, and those have been a breeze. i think it only took me a couple of days to get the hang of putting them in my eyes. i use the same method as outlaw for putting in/taking out my contacts...it works quite well.

are you okay once you get them in?

i have the throw-away soft ones - wear for 2 weeks then can toss them. Took me about a month to get fully used to putting them in and not struggling with it. Only time it takes any longer than a few seconds now is if they contacts are old and dried out. Like the contacts much better than glasses. Can never keep glasses clean - every time I look up there is dust or something on the glasses which is very annoying.

i use daily disposables, maybe about 3 times a week on average. have done for about 7 years now, and only in the last year have i started getting dry eyes when i use them.

i think theyre great, but maybe if id started saving and stopped buying contacts, i could afford Lasix by now! 8-)
  • i wear them, but i hate them. I prefer glasses, on myself and definitely on others. a man with nerd glasses! hooo lordy...tidal wave.

Contacts suck for many reasons, but the most important reason is the way they slide around when you are first getting used to them. I also despise the way they dry out my eyes, and there is a disturbing squish sound when i blink after i first put them in.

why did you want to get rid of the glasses? The only time I see the usefulness of contacts is when it rains...i don't get speckles.

My eyes are going to shit, and I'm thinking about going the contact route.

Right now I have glasses that I really hate wearing so I usually don't. The only time I wear them is when I'm driving somewhere I'm not familiar with.

I've thought about getting contacts, but it seems there's about a 50/50 split on people who like them/dislike them.
    So I dunno.

Also, I have a hell of a time touching my eye right now...so that might not help! LOL

had them for about 14 years now. i remember the frustration and anger of trying to get them in every morning before high school. i would have to wake up like 30 minutes earlier otherwise i would be late! it took a couple month then i was able to pop them in one shot every time.

i still do not like them. i have disposable lenses... so every 2 weeks i chuck the ones i have and pop in a new pair. some days, they burn, itch and just fuck with your eyes real badly. i always have a bottle of visine for contacts handly, because some days they get real dry, and the visine is nice and soothing.

my only advice... make sure to still wear glasses a few days a week. it a nice/necessary break that your eyes need from contacts.

  • If you can afford them, get the daily disposables. Say goodbye to cases, cleaners and all the crap that comes along with contacts. Wake up, put in a fresh pair, toss em out at night and start over the next day.

it took me about a month to get used to it, i had this huge thing about putting anything in my eyes, but i got used to it. i use the disposable toric soft lenses, they last about 3 weeks, very comfy :) i always use my glasses once i get home, just to give my eyes a rest.

I started wearing glasses about ten years ago, and just started with the contacts in January. I'd tried them previously, but it always took at least half an hour to get just one in, so I gave up. This time around I realized that my real problem is the blinking, so I quickly learned to tilt my head and put them in off-center, so I don't see my finger coming at me :P I'm not a fan of how easily the lenses get lint on them - I wash my hands, then dry off every finger but the indexes (so there's no towel lint on them, and so my other fingers are dry enough to get a good grip on my eyelids). It took me about a month to get used to them as well - I use the two week disposables - but I'm so glad I figured them out. They're nicely convenient.

I've been wearing them for more than 20 years.

I hate wearing glasses. I want to get the Lasik surgery someday.

I've been wearing them for a couple years now...only took a few days to get used to putting them in and getting used to wearing them was no problem b/c I liked how much better I could see!
I couldn't stand to wear glasses all day so I would usually only wear them when I was driving at night or needed to read/see far away....once I realized how well I couldn't see I got the contacts
I use the throw away kind and they usually last 3-4 weeks...but I do take them out almost every night

I cannot read without glasses. I wear either 1.75 or 2.00 reading glasses. My older sister YELLED at me once to get rid of those glasses and get contacts. She remarked that I had to always take them off or on. Why should she care? I purposely had someone take a picture of me in the worse looking pair of reading glasses from the grocery store and I posted it so she could see it. When I was at her house years ago, she struggled with her new contacts. I have dry eyes, not sure I could wear them.
