So this sounds amazing... Queens is by far the second best touring rock band in my humble opinion, second only to PJ. But either way I cut & pasted it from the web site.... sorry if its been posted before.

On Saturday August 16th at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, Queens of the Stone Age will perform a concert in celebration of the life of Natasha Shneider.

QOTSA will be accompanied by friends PJ Harvey, Jack Black + Kyle Gass, MATT CAMERON, Brody Dalle, Jesse Hughes, Billy F. Gibbons, Chris Goss, and Alain Johannes, who will help them perform songs from the limits of the QOTSA catalog and beyond.

On July 2nd, at 11:11 AM, Natasha Shneider passed away. She ended her time in this Life with the style & poetry that she lived all the days previous, crossing over while held in the arms of her closest & dearest. No words can encapsulate the unwaivering strength she provided, adversities she overcome, the talents she possessed & nutured, the sharpness of her wit nor the beautiful complexity of her intellect. We are so thankful for her influence & the gift of her friendship.

A celebration of Natasha Shneider will be held in Hollywood at the Henry Fonda Theatre on Saturday, Aug 16th. Further details will be released shortly. All proceeds of the benefit & donations made will go to the relieve the burden of Natasha's fight against cancer. To donate, go to NatashaShneider.org

Now is all we have. May you all make the most of it.

With Love, Joshua Homme

little trivia: Matt Cameron is actually the original drummer for Queens of the Stone Age. He drummed on their first EP called Gamma Ray and drummed for their first live show in late 1997. fortunately that was the only show he played with the Queens and was a member of Pearl Jam a few months later.

    Nice.

I've got The frist Queens show along w/ a couple of the Gamma Ray sessions on a burnt CD somewhere. Haven't listend to it in years.

    Born To Hula
    If Only Everything
    18AD
    Openhiemers Brother
    Cherbert (sp?)

Are the only songs recorded w/Matt to my knowledge.

It's pretty cool how Matt has played on the demos of 2 of my favorite bands

    Pearl Jam
    QOTSA

His drumming for that Nickelback/Spiderman song kind of undermines that.

Yeah Josh is the only guy who's been in the band the entire time. though they've had the same drummer and guitarist now since late 2002

I got really confused the second time I saw them back in Oct of 2006 because of the switching of the members. lol. The first time I saw them was at lollapalooza, I think it was in 02 or 03... and there was like 3 singers and then in 06 it was just Josh, I was like "what the fuck!" But they still rocked! They are probably one of the best live bands ever! :)

    YES!!

Saw them in Detroit (Shelter) a couple of days before SFTD came out.

    Lineup was:

    Josh Homme
    Nick Oliveri
    Mark Lannegan
    Dave Grohl
    Troy Van Leeuwen

Man I wish they could have kept that lineup!! Hands down one of the greatest shows I've ever been to.

I'd kill my own sister to see that line-up live.

    It was Awesome !!

The band was so tight that night.

Actually got a chance to hang out with Hutch (Queens Soundman) after the show. We asked for a set list and he ended up giving my wife Dave Grohl's snare drum skin that he played that night. Later that night he was able to get everyone except Mark Lannegan (who had already left) to sign the snare skin!!

I finally got Mark to sign it last month when I saw the Gutter Twins play in Toronto.

Easily one our most prized posessions. Right now it hangs above my own drum kit!!

Yeah I know what you mean. The Shelter had em' packed in like a can of sardines.

There was alot of hype for that tour. I think Queens of the Stone Age were poised to become the biggest band in the world at that moment...There was definately a great feeling in the air.

    Great moment for sure.

I saw it (minus Grohl) when they supported Chili Peppers & Foos at Slane 03. People around me were pissed when Grohl wasnt drumming, especially seeing as he was in the venue, but Joey came out and dominated those songs.

Pissed all over the Foos performance. Belissimo

I have seen queens 4 times and have met them everytime somehow. In 200 I saw them open up for the foo fighters and was hanging out with them in front of the venue and josh was bragging about how good the opening band was. We stood there smoking cigarettes for about 20 minutes... then grohl and taylor came out and they were shooting the shit. I had no idea it was the opening band. I did however get my copies of colour and the shape and inutero out of the car for dave to sign. He is by far the coolest person to shoot the shit with while you are waiting in line to get into his show.
