I can't comment on quality, but I wouldn't expect much. It would do the job, though.

this one looks pretty good IMO for the price
and yah it looks like you would just need speakers - depending on how fancy youre looking to get - i just plug my turntable directly into my crappy JBL speakers and it works fine... maybe not getting the full experience but im happy enough

Is this a "good" turntable? It depends on your expectations and how you define good. Without trying to sound like snob, it will play your records. Considering the price, it won't be as good as a $500 turntable, or a $1000 turntable, or a... It comes down to how much you want to spend really.
If you plug it straight in to your speakers, how do you adjust the volume?!?
i have volume control on my speakers that i use and it works just fine for my needs
wouldnt your money be better spent on a high end needle/cartridge vs. a more expensive turntable? and youre saying the arm/bearing mechanism effects how it plays? just as far as the amount of pressure on the record or what? i want my vinyl to last as long as it can so im thinking of upgrading all my stuff when i have the $

This is a good place to start. I would resist buying any of the $50 to $150 price range turntables. If you get into vinyl you will end up trading up to $300 or $400 model. This is the price range where quality really begins. Rega makes a nice entry level turntable:

Your amp will need a phono stage.
$50 - $200 - junk
$250 - $500 - entry level (I have a Rega P1)
$500 - $2,500 - mid range
$2,500 - $30,000 - high end
To the OP, if you have speakers like that then that will work, and it will be fine. I just think it's obvious that with people talking up the quality of vinyl, it's probbly not possible to get the same sound out of a cheap turntable and speakers when people are spending $1000s of dollars trying to do the same. I'm not saying you won't enjoy it or anything, but you might find yourself wishing you'd spent a little more. Then again, you might not.
The "problem" with the entry level audiophile turntables is generally they are fully manual. You sacrifice features for quality.
Try this one :-)
i've had that turntable for almost five years and it's just fine for me. i have it connected to a good pioneer receiver and energy bookshelf fronts w/an energy sub. i dont play vinyl very often, just the xmas singles when they come out and spin some LPs maybe once every month or two. hasnt failed me yet, and i hear no reason to have to change the cartridge yet.
