Portugal 1996 & NY 1998 s/n...i've got em
I have both of these posters. The NY one is absolutely mint 91/100.
The Portugal one is a sad story. Bought it off 10C back in 1997, it arrived, my friend pushed another friend onto my bed where the poster was sitting after I took it out of the tube. It has a tear dead center (which was repaired using tape on the BACK of the poster aligning the two segments perfectly) and crease marks throughout the poster. Yes, I know. "holy shit! tape?!" What the heck did I know back in 1997 about the poster explosion?
So you poster seekers, what is a 'legitimate' value to be assessed to these posters. Expresso Beans has the 98 NY at $228 average, but that's not for s/n. And the Portugal averages $340 mint, but since mine is so fucked up, I didn't know what people would pay just to say they have it in their collection.
PS: There is no guarantee that I would ever sell part of my collection. My project today was to transfer unframed posters from their current storage method into one of those art books. Just made me think...

to the OP, ebeans is a great way to find the average value but when youre dealing with something damaged as in your case it really just comes down to what someones willing to pay... i would have to see a picture to say for sure... assuming the pieces came together perfectly, the wrinkles could be flattened out, and it would look nice framed i would still like to have it in my collection (not in the market - just hypothetically)... i couldnt see going anywhere above $100 though since the chance of resale is pretty much shot... atleast in your hands theres a story that goes with the rip
post pics if you find the time
and hopefully someone a little more knowledgable can help with the appraisal

I had the Portugal once (2 actually) gave one away and sold the other and i regret it to this day..hold onto it brother...you'll be glad you did.
it won't be 100% but it can be done. Sell the NY poster to fund the repair cause thats how much it will cost to fix it
Nah, it's definitely not worth it. While it saddens me a great deal every time I look at the Portugal poster, once I eventually get around to framing it, it will look alright. When pressed flat, you can't even tell it's ripped. Apparently I did a pretty decent job fixing it 12 years ago when I was a naive 18 year old beginner poster collector. I'm just SO glad it wasn't my other 1996 posters from shows I had been to. I had also JUST moved the 1996 Emek charlotte with doodle off the bed before the incident occurred. i would have murdered bitches. That still remains my favorite poster and is currently framed in my hallway next to the 96 Merriweather Post.
