...I have read the long release regarding PJ's pairing with Target, and it seemed to quiet the "sell out" crowd, as it seems to help the band maximize their profits from the music and help the "little guys" (i.e. independent music stores), so I get the Target thing. Also, it is exciting regarding the "Vault" and being able to access 2 live shows. What I do not get totally is the following:

1) so where does PEARL JAM want us to buy this? Usually I would like to buy on Pearljam.com, as I pre-ordered The Fixer Vinyl; however, am I understanding this that if I don't buy at Target, then I don't get access to the live shows?

2) If we want to get all the live shows from the Vault, which is probably people that are on here regularly and probably have these recordings in some form, it does not seem that Pearl Jam would want their "biggest" fans to buy the album 6 times at Target to get all of the "Vault" recordings, which I am assuming are sound board style (i.e. 2000/2003 bootlegs) v. some of the recordings that are "out there"...

3) I am heading to LA 1, LA3 and San Diego (possibly Philly 2), love the Fixer, and generally excited about the future of Pearl Jam...

please advise...take care 10C friends...

I'm sure all of the shows will end up online to be traded. So just buy the one and have a little patience. That way you can see if they are actually soundboard quality first too.

I was hoping that those who pre-ordered Backspacer from Ten Club would get a bonus live disc, like last time when Avocado came with the '92 new year's eve show.

The question that I have is about Rock Band DLC with the Target purchase.

"Backspacer" will also be available on "Rock Band" the day it comes out, and Target has an exclusive on an edition of the album featuring access to download its songs for "Rock Band" on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

Does this mean that the DLC is only going to be available for people who buy the album at Target (kind of like the 3 "Ten" tracks were available only to those with a code from Best Buy)?

I was wondering about the Rock Band, too. What I'm assuming is that it's going to be a 3 song exlcusive track set, similar to what Best Buy offered. Maybe live recordings from what Cameron Crowe shot in Seattle? That'd make the most sense, since the article clearly said the entire album would be available, and mentioned the Target part later.

As for buying them, I'm a touch bothered that by ordering the TC/Indie version, we get nothing past maybe a hard covered book version similar to Avacodo. I will certainly buy atleast one Target version, though--as I bought an in store version of Ava as well. I think that if for 10 bucks or so you can get two full live concerts of your choosing, it's completely worth it.

With that said--what other band out there would offer us free concerts of our choosing for buying a normal cd? Or would put posters on sale before hand so we don't ruin em during the show? Love the Ten Club.

The fact is, nobody knows if you get the Rockband dload or Vault access by pre-ordering or by purchasing digitally through the 10c.
Because in order to access both (Rockband, and the Vault), you will need a password or code (completely individual and unique so that it can only be used once). It should not be hard for the 10c to include the password to access this content in say a confirmation email.

    We'll see.

I'm getting mine at Target though. ;)

I am a bit bothered by the uncertainity. It would be great if Ten Club explains to us the pros and cons (so to speak) of buying through the Ten Club, Target, iTunes, etc. as September approaches. Since I am such a nerd, I'd like to see a nice matrix or spreadsheet. 8-)

I really like the hard cover book-style packaging, but that alone is probably not enough to keep me from buying at Target for the the Rock Band DLC, live concerts, etc.

I see where you are coming from... and now I am feeling the same way... you are not coming off as whining, but more like questioning why we would get "lesser" value of the record if we went through Ten Club.

I always purchase through Ten Club - even if it meant the shipping charges were higher - because I like to support the band directly.

Like you, I understood where the band was coming from with the Target with explanations in details. Makes sense to me and taking business/management courses helped me understand how things worked too.

But...now I'm curious what's the deal of getting them through Ten Club...I always feel special getting the stuff from Ten Club.

I guess we'll wait and find out soon enough... :|
