Knowing that PJ has done its part to confuse everyone of the origins of the band name, and then seemingly coming clean in Rolling Stone back in '06 with the Neil Young story, I present to you Miss Pearl's Jam House in Oakland.
Apparently, from reading the above links on the restaurant and its original founder, Joey Altman, it was a hotspot restaurant in SF in the late 80's and early 90's, before going under. It was then re-opened in Oakland in 2008. Joey Altman, the exec chef, also used to cook for Bill Graham and friends backstage at the fillmore, connecting him to the concert and music world. Check out the picture of this guy at the link above, holding a guitar.
I'm just wondering if Pearl Jam ate here back in the day, decided to name the band after the restaurant on a whim, maybe after a late night of food and drinks, and then came up with a clever story of where the name came from, to dylan-ify or make more the nam history more mysterious and intriguing?
Any bay area peeps ever eaten here, either at the old location or this new one? Considering that Ed and the boys claim the name came from a Neil Young concert at Shoreline, which is in the bay area, the coincidence seems too great.
Ps love the fixer.

It was actually a Neil Young show on Long Island at Nassau Coliseum while the guys were meeting with some Sony/Epic reps
