How did everyone find out about http://www.pearljam.com/backspacer/art?

I have seen no official word from Ten Club, so how did everyone find it?

Also, has anyone gotten all 9 images? Spread around the internet? Just on random other sites? I am confused.

Yeah. I saw the other thread where it had all these links to other sites - but i still do not get how they were found...how did people know where to look?

Any insight on how this all happened would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Oh, so they only announced this on Facebook and not on their actual site?

there was a post here at 8:30am CT from another fan.

the images were found when someone realized that they were all the same address, just with the web address of a different music/media website at the end, so people just started plugging stuff in and seeing what worked.

  • I suggest you finish the hunt - it's a lot of fun and Tenclub went through a great deal of effort organizing it. However, the prize can be found on gremmie.net.

That's the problem is I haven't even seen any thing about this. Were people just randomly checking every web page in existence?

Finish the hunt, I haven't done any hunting. Before I even knew what was going on I had already clicked on some links from a thread yesterday and was still confused a to what was going on.

And I never saw PJ/10C announce anything about this.

You'd think if they really wanted people to enjoy this, they would have announced it and told about it here, on their own web page.

I saw it on a RollingStone.com rss feed. Found a few images from clues on the message pit but never did find them all. Great idea, though, and it did generate a lot of chatter about the new album on the internets.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

They were in mostly mainstream music publications and once I had the file name I found them easily. The only one I had trouble finding was #2. It was fun and dl is great.

It is strange that it wasn't brought to the attention of 10c members through an email or MySpace. Luckily here in Boston we have some cool DJs on WAAF that cue their listeners in on PJ related news, etc...

Was there some sort of contest lately to be in a PJ video??? Never heard anything about this from 10c either.

They posted a blog on Myspace. :)

Perhaps this is the video contest you're thinking of (ended 7/18)?

Glad to hear the DJs out there are talking about this. :)

Here is my theory n why this wasn't announced here:

if it was announced on here first, all the crazy fans on here probably would have deciphered it quickly. Therefore a lot of regular people would have skipped the game and just got the download from someone else. I think, strategy wise, they are trying to get the attention of people who read those magazines rather than try to just feed their already established fanbase.

I had a friend tell me about this, and I was totally unaware of this whole thing. He was kinda proud of the fact that he got the download before I even knew about the game.

I vaguely recall being crucified for bringing this up a couple days ago...

I've been mulling this one over for a couple days now, and I think you've hit the nail on the head. The band can count on us 10C members to purchase the new album (not to mention the vinyl single(s), boot legs, and other collectible type stuff). I think this was a well-played attempt to reach out to the younger masses and casual fans.

I love the concept here. I was a bit perplexed and annoyed at first that they didn't post it on the site...now I'm starting to understand the logic behind it--or maybe just starting to rationalize it, I don't know.

Either way, a fun concept and great song. Can't complain!
