Speed of Sound is now officially...

...the most beautiful song in the PJ catalog...at least the demo version...

i can pretty much say it's one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs of all time...

let's just hope the studio version still holds up to how powerfully beautiful the demo is

    I can't seem to get into this one yet. I'm not exactly sure why... I love Ed's Into the Wild material. Hopefully it will grow on me. I'm sure the version with the full band will help, though.

    Yes, I've heard of YouTube.

    I'm trying NOT to hear this song, or any more, until the album comes out. The consensus gushy love for this song on this board is making it difficult to do.

    it'll be ok... it's only a few more months till that album is in our hands. i'm already kicking myself for listening to the fixer! we mustn't give in to temptation.

    Believe he is (and I could be way off, apologies if I am) subscribing to the same philosophy I am, hold off on demo's and wait until the album or other official releases are out before sampling the sweet stuff of a new PJ album...all of this very positive chatter about Speed of Sound is making actually pulling that strategy off very difficult.

    ITS BORING!

    Now to all those who havent listened to anything to enjoy Backspacer on release day, DO-NOT-GIVE-IN-FOR-THIS-BORING-TRACK!

    That's the only reason I listened to it because it was an "official" release.

    I agree with you so far. It may grow on me. I don't dislike it. It just doesn't have anything special for me. Kinda like Thumbing My Way. I listened to SOS 2 days ago and I haven't bothered to listen again.

    Strangely, the people saying it's boring are making me want to listen to it more than the people who say it's the best thing ever written.

    I have a feeling these are the same people who would call Thumbing My Way boring, or Parachutes boring, or Around the Bend boring .... All of those would be in my top 30. So ....

    To a lot of people on this site, "boring" = "you can't mosh to it, dude." And I don't give a fuck. Frankly, I think PJ is better on the slower stuff these days than the "rockers."

    I liked THUMBING MY WAY and PARACHUTES.....SPEED SOUND is just boooooooooooooring
