The president and bad beer

Well - Gates, the officer and the VP and Pres sat down and had their beer. If you can call it that. Very disappointed in the beer choices...if I were president very little macro swill would be served at the White House. Hell, I'd start a Micro brewery right there.

Anyhow - here it is.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/30/ ... index.html

Of interest, look at this portion...

Meanwhile, a black Cambridge police sergeant on the scene the day of Gates' arrest wrote a letter to Crowley, asking him to mention to Gates and Obama that he is now known as the "black sergeant" and to some others as an "uncle Tom."

"I'm forced to ponder the notion that as a result of speaking the truth and coming to the defense of a friend and colleague, who just happens to be white, that I have somehow betrayed my heritage," Sgt. Leon Lashley wrote. "Please convey my concerns to the president that Mr. Gates' actions may have caused grave and potentially irreparable harm to the struggle for racial harmony in this country and perhaps throughout the world."

Lashley wrote in the letter he would like Gates to reflect on the incident and ask himself what responsibility he bears, what he can do to heal the rift and what he can do to mitigate the damage done to the officers' reputations.

    that is sooo sad.
it does indeed go both ways. i'm glad he did push aside race and focus on what he deemed true and important, and it is just tragic that we still have this issue loon up with regularity in this country. i wonder if we will ever move past it all...

Can't we just acknowledge that there are just assholes that live in America? I mean, it has nothing to do with.. and never had anything to do with RACE. It has everything to do with two assholes crossing paths in an unlikely situation. Gates was an asshole for acting like an asshole to an asshole cop who was called onto the scene.
Because a white cop lures a black man out of his house so he can arrest him doesn't make him (the cop) a racist. It makes him a cop who pulled an asshole move because this black asshole was yelling shit at him from inside his house.
And it has everything to do with asshole Americans making a big fucking deal out of this bullshit skirmish between a white asshole and a black asshole. Asshole newsroom directors directing asshole talking heads to make a big fucking deal out of it so asshole people who believe what they see on television is reality will make a big fucking deal out of it. it is not a big fucking deal.
    ...
And lastly... the President was an asshole for answering that asshole question from that asshole reporter... he **should** have just said something like, "Since I know Professor Asshole... and i do not have all of the facts... I cannot and will not make a statement on this situation. I will let our Justice system handle it because we have REAL motherfucking problems in this motherfucking country! Now... sit your sorry ass down and don't ask any more sorry-ass, motherfucking lame ass questions... bitch".

...And then some asshole named Cosmo posts his opinion (which are like assholes, because everyone has them and most of them stink) on some asshole band's message board that will be selling their album through asshole target, and further perpetuates the assholiness, says VINNY GOOMBA, resident asshole. :D

Seriously though, I couldn't agree more. All of this crap gets blown way too far out of proportion.

Bud LIght???? That raises another red flag against the Obama administration right there.....

Hey... I'm the first to admit... I can be a REAL ASSHOLE at times. No problem with that.
If I'm ever an asshole to a black guy... or a Mexican guy... or a Chinese guy... it doesn't make me a racist... just an asshole. And if I'm ever an asshole to a Jewish guy...I'm NOT an anti-Semite... i am stilll... just an asshole.
And seriously... are there people in this country that do shit that deserve others to be assholes to them? Seriously.

Ah Cosmo, you’re a trip.
    i get what you're saying.
The media did what they always do. Beat a dead horse, then scrape it off the floor and beat it some more. There is racism in this country and I’m glad people are talking. Just wish the media would shut the hell up about it now.

    Oh, and Sam Adams baby!

That's it... address racism when racism occurs. I believe that when we try to address other problems... like cops or professors being assholes to each other... as Race Related problems, we dilute the TRUE injustices caused by Racism that occur in our country.

I'm guessing he and Biden chose Bud Light as a symbol that they are "all American" guys.

Sadly, it's the most consumed beer in America and people will identify with that.

Had he drank some obscure microbrew then you'd have people going "Oooooh, Mr. Fancy President can't drink a real American beer?!?!"
Dropping the "liberal elite" bomb I'm sure too!

And just think if he was drinking an import?!?!

No... I think he should have gone with... "I don't often drink beer... but, when I do... I drink Dos Equis."
"Stay thirsty, my professor and cop friends."

Nothing wrong with Sam Adams or Blue Moon. Some pretty good shit right there. Bud Light on the other hand, that is weak.

I've heard a lot of people talking about that beer and I can't seem to find it anywhere here in Scottsdale/Phoenix.
I've gone to the beer specialty stores too...nothing!

If I was him, I'd probably go for a Sierra Nevada.
American beer, common enough, and damn tasty! :)

BUt Bud light is made by a foreign company. He could have chosen a beer with actual flavor made in small batches by Americans from just about any state. ;)

It is from Vermont. So it must be a East coast thing. Sort of like I cannot get Fat tire here on the East Coast.
