I would like to have bootlegs as much as the next fella but seriously, why would we expect the 10C staff to be johnny-on-the-spot with an answer to any question we might ask? Perhaps I underestimate the amount of information to which the staff is readily available and free to share whenever the hell they get ready to.
We would like to have answers, but we damn sure don't deserve answers whenever the hell we think we should have them regarding boots, tours or whatever. Somehow, I don't feel like my loyalty to the band through the years gives me any stock in business decisions.
If I was a 10C staffer my standard answer to a question like "Are we gettng boots? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!" would be:
"THat's for us to know and for you to worry about."
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They are a business and we are customers. It's just good business sense to have a good relationship between the two.
Let's say you like Shamrock Shakes from McDonalds. March 1st rolls around and you notice there are no Shamrock Shakes in stores, so you ask the manager of store or call Micky D's headquarters to find out if they are going to carry them and they say, "That's for us to know and you to find out".
Without your customers (i.e. fans), what are you?
If you're not going to carry bootlegs or Shamrock Shakes...that's cool...just give the consumer a heads-up.

"We paced ourselves and we didn't rush through it and we tried to be as creative as our collective minds would let us be over some course of time instead of just trying to rush through a record"
Part of the problem could be everytime there is a thread asking for info about the band/tour/albulm/posters/recordings/pictures/release dates etc. from the mods, they don't want or have time to respond to every single one every single time with "I don't know, when we know, you will know". I am sure there is a lot of stuff they don't have answers for. Another thing could be they are not allowed to give us the info everyone wants. So the only thing they can do is not say anything at all.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...

I think that is fine...but, just inform the fans just as if you are a fan and not a contracted employee of 10 Club, Inc.

Really? First off, questions are being asked of people who -- correct me if I am wrong -- probably aren't privvy to all information all the time and do not make decisions about when or when not to release the information they do have.
As for the consumer/business (fan/band) relationship, it is definitely a good idea to maintain a good rapport. Following your example, I love Micky D's McRibs and I would be sad if they never sold them again. If that happened, that would be a business decision to which I as a customer deserve no answer as to why (like with PJ bootlegs). If, say in October, my mouth started watering at the prospect of eating a McRib come December and I contacted McDonalds asking if they were going to have them that year, am I really entitled to an answer? No, its none of my business even if I've bought 1,000 McRibs every year since they have been offered.
People expect different things I guess and people get pissed off about different things, but for my part I look forward to whatever I might have available to me in the future whether it be McRibs or bootlegs or a damn southern tour.
I just don't feel entitled....plus, I've got other things to worry about in lieu McRibs
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

I am sure they dont want to say anything until they are sure of the info... Anyone remember Big Bold and Free?? When this is something to say they will say it.

As a consumer and a loyal customer, I'm pretty sure you would get a response. Thus, you are entitled to an answer because without the customer there wouldn't be billions and billions served. It a matter of maintaining good public relations.

Exactly and they don't have to say more information will be available later either. THey will certainly want us to know about it, I promise.
Going back to my last post: I would expect any business to take care of me and treat me right if ever there arose a situation I felt I had been wronged or somehow cheated. Say, for instance, if I ordered a PJ tshirt from the 10C and it never showed up, I would expect a little help there, but as for me asking questions of them about information that would certainly be provided to me when and if it became available: that has nothing whatsoever to do with our fand/band relationship...not in the least
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

Then again, if they had not sold McRibs in two years, I would assume they probably won't be coming back, so there would be no need in me pestering the folks at McD's headquarters about the probability of them bringing those delicious sammiches back. If they brought the McRib back, I would be happy as a little girl, but I would probably be willing to wait until I saw the commercials all over the TV...as McDonalds, like Pearl Jam, would certainly want me buy whatever it might be they are pedaling because they aren't selling them sammiches again just so I can drip a little BBQ sauce down my chin

A strange turn we've taken and a huge plug for McDonalds.
Correct...I'm not worrying about bootlegs, but there are those who would like to know and in a sign of good faith and keeping a positive relationship with fans...go against the corporate grain and keep them in the loop.
I think, and I could be wrong, but a grassroots relationship has helped garner such a large fan base.

I don't expect an answer from 10C but I can only hope that perhaps the existence of these threads might factor into their decision making for boots in 2008.
I think a large part of the fanaticism of Pearl Jam's current fanbase can be attributed to the bootlegs, I know it certainly deepened my love for the band - in both the sense that the act of making their shows available for the fans increased my respect for the band and also that the ability to have a great sounding copy of every show helped me feel almost as if I was there for every one.
Thread integrity. You didn't address whether there would be official boots for this tour.

Unfortunately I think you're right.....I'm sure in one of his radio/internet interviews Stone said something along the lines of "the band being more selective of the material they put out", I hope this is wrong but I've got a bad feeling that we've seen the end of every show in a tour being released....... :(
Well I'm happy to say that it looks like this load of rubbish I wrote yesterday is just that......yeah
Good news to read that the boots will be released.
But why the hell didn't they do it for last year's tour?
