Will the Seattle shows be marathon shows?

I'd be happy with a normal sized set, I have only seen them one time (San Fran III, 2006). But it seems like they could pull out all the stops for these two shows. I dont know about the Key Arena 2002 shows, but the 2000 ones were pretty long setlists.

What are the chances of a "Seattle Experiment"?

It seems like if they were gonna do a marathon set, these would be the shows, because of it being their hometown shows, the first proper seattle shows in 7 years.

I doubt it. Tour openers are usually shorter shows going off past experience. They'll be great shows, but I'm thinking more likely the 2h20min to 2h30min range.

I took marathon to mean one of their extremely long sets that have gone into the 2:40-3:00 range. They've really only done so a handful of times and never on a tour opener to my knowledge.

I agree never on a opener... usually stick to right around 2 hrs maybe a little more or less...

But they do have a good chunk of shows that have clocked in between 2:30 - 3 hrs...

Maybe it's just because they're the shows I'm going to, but I have a funny feeling these shows might be a little out of the ordinary... 1st time at home in 7 years, and they're not starting out too cold since they'll have done the Euro dates and some festivals.

I'm not saying that they'll play a show epic in its length, but I don't think these will be your typical tour openers. Having said that, you can make the "it'll be a special night" argument about pretty much the whole tour, between 4 shows in LA at a much smaller than usual venue, a show at the location of one of their most emotional shows in years (San Diego), and 2 (or 3, or 7) shows to close out a truly historic venue in Philly...

I don't know, I just can't shake this feeling that ALL of these shows are going to be unique... different... special.

I also have seen the patterns that setlists get longer and more varied as the tour goes on.

I did see an exception to this once. Gorge 05 (I think it was the 2nd show on the tour, the played missoula a few nights before). They played a near hour long opening set. Then a full length concert afterwards. So about a 3 hour show alltogether.

Seattle 2000 was a long set as well (the 2nd night) but that was closing out a tour. One thing that always struck me as odd was that for a near 3 hour show, the setlist was pretty standard except for the 2 songs at the end.

Gorge '05 was billed as "An evening with".
