it might be a very stupid question tho..

how do you backspace/delete on a typewriter if when you press a letter it is immediately printed on the paper?

if it's a thesis paper, you remove the page, crumple it up, yell out an explitive, throw it away, grab a blank page, and start over.

On (relatively) newer electric models, you can backspace, hit the key you made a mistake with, and it'll write over it with a white imprint.
Using the word "methinks" in your message board posts doesn't make you look smart.

Wow -- I feel a very old 32 knowing that you...

    1. use white correction paper
    2. backspace
    3. hold the correction paper between key imprinter and the paper
    4. re-type the letter you are trying to erase

    5. Its gone!
  • so is it just like a square of white ink? or is it like the letter a whole second set of letters on with white ink?
