I forgot how much fun this show was...often overlooked from last year, other than the minute long 'Betterman' ovation. So many of my favorite PJ songs all in one night.... a great night it was!!!

Mansfield 1 last year was amazing... not only the incredible Betterman which blew us all away, and one of those "if you weren't there" experiences... but remember how it felt when the tag to Black came roaring out from Ed "we belong, we belong together..."? Oh shit this really got to me. The ticket for this show had been purchased by my lover of five years who died one month before the performance. The entire setlist spoke to me in an uncanny way from Hard to Imagine to the very last note of Alive.... even though so many times this feeling has occurred with Pearl Jam's shows, Mansfield 6/28/08 is especially poignant.
Thank you for posting and remembering that night. Many fans were disappointed, claimed that it had been a "greatest hits" downer! To each their own, we absorb what we will. Wish folks would quit bitching about setlists, I feel all PJ's music and to be at any show is a GIFT !!!!

Jesus. You're more than welcome!..so sorry to hear of this great loss for you. this show obviously was special for you. Ironically to your thoughts, I never absorb 'Black' because of what it means to me, and it runs off me like water off a duck. I have my own reasons, and demons with that song. To each their own...and that God there's a large catalog of music to choose from. But hearing that first set was like a dream come true.
