Bootlegs for concerts you have not attended

How do you judge them. I'm using the following criteria:

1. Overall impression left by bootleg as a whole - is it *good* or what?
2. Crowd participation - I feel half the concert is the crowd - can I hear that in the bootleg?
3. Set list - similar to how an album is put together, do the songs as a whole flow? Is there a disproportionate amount of songs from a particular album, and why would that be?
4. Production - if an official bootleg is the sound quality up to a high standard?

What else makes you think a bootleg is *good* or *not so good*?

All I ever really care about is that the setlist is good and there aren't too many messups. I never let the crowd participation affect my mood.

Setlist or Quality really. Every Pearl Jam show is awesome, so if its in better quality then you can enjoy it a looot more. The setlist just comes on the side really.

Crowd Participation is hard to notice on soundboards.

DEFINITELY the crowd matters!! You DO hear a good crowd on the soundboard recordings. If the crowd is into it, the band is into it and then I'm in! Ex: Lollapallooza 2007. Grand Rapids 2006. (Most European shows) The setlist is the 1st thing I look at just to see if something different is there or a cover. The setlist can also be a sign if Ed was in a down mood or an up mood. (or thought the fans were) If I go online and find great info about a certain show, that can tip me into wanting it. Some good stories by Ed during a show make that a big plus.

i like to hear a good bit of the crowd, i like to hear the band get in the groove the crowd gives them, i also like to be able to hear the crowd chants during encore breaks. but mainly the place is what i look for, ive got any idea of the crazy places in the world, say amsterdam and brazil, there arent too many US shows i would look at and automatically assume its a kickass show

Song selection (esp if i haven't heard live yet), alt versions, cool Ed stories, special guests all rate highest for me
I have some boots that aren't the best quality but keep me coming back for more (ie karma club with neil finn as one example) Hearing the crowd noise alot of times makes it easier to pretend i'm there..

If i want the most pristine, i stick with the studio version.
