How many fingers should I use for the picking? 3 and a thumb or 1 and a thumb? I reallly want to learn how to play this song and have always wanted to play in this style of picking. Thanks in advance!

I personally use three and a thumb... though the fact that I had to air guitar to remember suggests the most important part of all this - do what feels right! If you (like Cinnamon Girl) can do it with two fingers and that feels most natural, just do it like that. It will take some practice if you're not used to doing that though. I used to just leave my left hand in G position and try different ways to pick it with my right hand.. eventually my guitar teacher tried to teach me 'chicken pickin'', which after giving up on, I realized I could do basic finger picking at least

lol! I had to pick up my acoustic to and play the song to find out how many fingers I use.

I totally agree with your points though. I was worried about confusing him with yet another option. :)

    Great song to play, btw.

Thanks! I'll give both a try and see what feels better. It will probably take me forever to get it down good. I'm a slow learner when it comes to the guitar, but can play lots of parts of songs and some power chords which I use my pinky to play.

Repetition is key. If you've done all correctly, by the time you can play it properly, there's a high chance you won't want to anymore

I have a tab for this, but I'm just wondering if anyone has a link to one that they believe is the most accurate?

I love this song, it's very relaxing to play and sounds fantastic when you get it right.

I'm always playing this tune at guitar stores in the corner of the acoustic section too 8-)

This is how I play it and it sounds right on. I use three fingers and a thumb, you just need to start slow and eventually your fingers will get used to the timing and pattern.

That's pretty close to how I play it but on the G7 I leave the B string open, and on the C chord I alternate bass notes from C to E. I'm not sure if it's right, but I think it sounds good.
