i think this was posted in the AMT last year when it was first in the media some 7-8 months ago. is it doing the rounds again?

Of course, Russian state media would love hearing this. It's their wet dream, isn't it, that the U.S. would fall apart...next year?! I find the guy laughable yet am shocked that the WSJ would publish his "vision".

Granted, things may go downhill, realistically, but the rate he's talking about? Come on!
  • Article is pulled from WSJ?

Is this the russian economist who predicted the collapse of the United States?

The OP is less informative than I am about what the link contains.
    ;)

If I opened it now would you not understand?

We were probably closer to the total collapse this guy talks about several months ago when the insurance companies and banks were failing. That's why, no matter how much anyone dislikes it, there was no alternative but Government subsidy. And we're obviously not out of the woods yet.

As far as the US divinding up into regions that are controlled by other nations, I guess anything could happen in the worst of circumstances, but it seems a little farfetched to me. Then again, I never thought the banks and insurance companies would fail , let alone GM or Chrysler. Texas, part of a Mexican state? Hell, Texas would probably tell Mexico to go shit in their hat.

I'm no economist, but I feel like the worst of the collapse of the system is over. The one thing I do fear is another major terrorist strike like 9/11. If that were to occur, a total collapse could be in the cards. I could see the US govt/State govts throwing in with Canada maybe or Great Britain if the worst came to pass, but nobody else. Interesting perspective on the part that Russki though.

Well, if back in 1998 whenever he first propsed this theory, if someone would have said that before 2009 The United States would have a black, socialist president with the name Hussain, they would have been dismissed as crazy.

I am suprised that a man who is so respected in Russia, would make such a bold prediction. I mean thats a biggie. And if and when it turns out he is wrong....then what will he say? His opinion wont ammount to much then I suppose.
Its all just weird to me.
But like someone said earlier about Obama being Pres, I never in hundred years would have bevlieved it, even 10 years ago.
I guess anything could happen in todays day and age.

it was much easier when they just referred to obama as ''that one''

at least there was a fair chance they wouldn't fuck the spelling up on that, after all, it is only six letters.

I think collapse is possible, but why does that mean all of these coalitions would be under the thumb of some other country? That doesn't make sense. Even our states are bigger than most Euro countries... we can't form countries that are independent along those divisions? They have to be owned by Mexico and Canada and China? That makes no sense.

Overall though, I'd be perfectly happy getting rid of Texas and the south. And NC, SC, TN, KY, VA and WV would go with them before they'd ever sign up with the northeast. NM with the CA country.

Can we just take the Northern States and west coast creating 'The United States of Canada'...

    The rest can be Jesusland!

does missouri have to be a part of jesusland? if so i will need to go further north. and that would be super inconvenient...then again, MO did go to mccain so i guess we are jesusland. noooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Uh... although I totally agree with you... isn't "that one" actually seven letters?
